Geotechnical Environmental Engineer
Our Environment Team in Italy is looking for a Geotechnical Environmental Engineer to be included in the Engineering group, for geotechnical design activities. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible since CVs will be reviewed and candidates selected on a rolling recruitment basis.
The candidates will join the Environment Team that, with more than 100 staff, provides services on large-scale environmental and civil engineering projects. The successful candidates will develop a wide range of skills, with significant training and career possibilities.
The training program will take place within multidisciplinary working groups and will include:
Planning, checking, and interpretation of geotechnical tests (both in situ and laboratory)Use of specific geotechnical software for stability analyses of excavation trenches, slopes, and design of:Opencut excavationsRetaining wallsFoundations structuresUnderground structuresHydrologic and hydraulic analysis of steady flowNumerical analysis of complex soil-structures interaction problems through finite elements codesBasic introduction to most recent tools for 3D modelling in use in civil engineering practice such as Civil 3DQualifications+5 years' of related experience in consulting companyFluency in Italian and EnglishDemonstrable interest in geotechnical and environmental projectsExperience in organization, supervision, and interpretation of laboratory and field geotechnical testsKnowledge of software for geotechnical design (i. e. PARATIE, GROUP, AZTEC package, PLAXIS 2D-3D)Knowledge of AUTOCAD environmentAbility to produce and understand written reports without consistent revisionAbility to maintain good records of site-based activitiesAbility to produce geotechnical and calculation reports and design sheets based on results and design activitiesMotivation, initiative, and organizational skills to work effectively in a busy multi-disciplinary environmentAbility to work under pressureFlexibility to promptly respond to the changing demands of projects and programsGood communication skills, both verbally and digitallyStrong attention to detailsReasonable flexibility and willingness to travel nationally to conduct site visitsStrong personal initiative, agility, and resourcefulnessGood understanding of Microsoft Office suite, in particular, ExcelLicensed to drive a vehicle in ITA (essential)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Environmental Engineering Degree or Civil Engineering
