The global Food Security Cluster (gFSC) is co-led by FAO and the World Food Programme (WFP) and led by two Global Coordinators. Reporting LinesThe Global Coordinator (Food Security Cluster) reports to the FAO Director of the Office of Emergencies and Resilience (OER) and the WFP Director of Emergencies, and works closely with the Global Coordinator at WFP. Technical FocusSupports the implementation of FAO's resilience agenda at global, regional, subregional, and/or country level. Key ResultsLeadership and technical policy expertise for the planning, development, and implementation of Division/Office Programmes of work, projects, products, services. Key Functions• Plans, manages, or leads highly specialized or multidisciplinary teams; leads and coordinates Organization-wide committees and provides technical leadership on inter-agency committees, networks, and international working groups;• Contributes to and coordinates the planning, budgeting, implementation, and reporting of the programme of work, team plans, supporting policy, tools, standards, and systems frameworks;• Oversees and provides expert technical assistance to teams focusing on humanitarian policy, inter-agency collaboration, mobilization of emergency resources, and programming;• Promotes best practices and provides technical support/services and operational coaching to the Decentralized Office network;• Oversees ongoing operational emergency and recovery projects and programmes;• Coordinates resource mobilization activities including corporate appeals and donor grants;• Oversees knowledge management activities including the maintenance of FAO emergency information systems. Specific Functions• Develops and enhances cluster vision in the context of the Inter-agency Standing Committee humanitarian cluster approach;• Ensures timely and effective interaction between the global Cluster Secretariat and country-level food security clusters;• Represents the gFSC in relevant inter-cluster fora;• Advises FAO and WFP Directors on the management and exit strategies of food security clusters at country-level;• Co-leads the implementation of the global Food Security Cluster (gFSC) Strategic Plans;• Manages the delivery of global cluster support services to country-level food security clusters;• Develops and supervises implementation of a results-based work plan and staffing strategy. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWINGMinimum Requirements• Advanced university degree (masters or equivalent) in economics, social sciences, agriculture, business, development studies, or management;• Ten years of relevant experience related to emergency and/or food insecurity crisis situations;• Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of a second official language of the Organization.
