Your Role and Responsibilities
The IBM IBV Global Insurance Research Manager is a trusted business advisor who provides strategic insight, direction, planning, analysis and guidance to senior executives and leadership teams to inspire, engage, develop and effectively manage their processing operations.
As members of IBM's premier think tank, Research Leaders serve as trusted advisors to business leaders, imagining and explaining the impact of technology on business, setting direction and predicting market outcomes.
They measure and predict economic and financial performance, perform sophisticated quantitative analyses, formulate business cases, practical recommendations and roadmaps that generate new business value.
The Insurance Research Manager is responsible for leading international research teams and stakeholders in the development and execution of the IBM Insurance teams' thought leadership program.
They are mandated to continually engage and increase their eminence and advance networks and relationships with leading global experts, continually expanding market impact and innovation.
They support account teams and meet with client executives, both virtually and on the ground, internationally, to deepen relationships, support deals and proposals, sales pitches and products deliverables.
They present ideas, implications and recommended strategies at major external events around the world.
**Responsibilities**:
- Collaboration with senior IBM executives and external thought leaders to define and prioritize the research agenda.
- Design and execute full life cycle research projects, including hypothesis generation, primary and secondary research, data analysis, identification of best practices and formulation of recommendations.
- Manage and maintain relationships with a global set of IBM experts and stakeholders to ensure sponsorship, adoption and support throughout the research lifecycle.
- Develop factual and differentiated business insights based on analytics that can influence business decisions by identifying opportunities and recommending actions.
- Identify best practices and define insightful, actionable, research-based performance metrics that can be integrated into business strategies.
- Produce documents and other research deliverables (e. g.
presentations, infographics) that present high-value, client-ready, compelling research ideas.
- Organize internal and external briefings on relevant research
- Collaborate with IBM marketing and communications and other stakeholders to deploy IBV's thought leadership internally and externally through events, press coverage, articles, podcasts, social media, etc.
to stimulate demand for IBV research and increase awareness
- Advise senior management and executives on research-based world-class performance and advise them on the development of various strategies and analyzes (e. g.
business value roadmaps, quantifying business scale (improved productivity and efficiency).
- Create IBM assets for business performance, such as process frameworks for industries and functional areas, component business models, and accelerators for offerings.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Master's degree in a relevant field of study preferred.
At least 10 years of relevant experience in the defined research area
Proven ability to establish and maintain advisory relationships with c-level executives and board clients
Proven experience designing and conducting primary research to interpret data and generate insights.
Excellent presentation skills, including strong presence in front of high-level executives.
Strong project management and relationship management skills
Professional attitude and sense of service, with prior experience and proven ability to work in an international and diverse team environment
Ability to work under pressure and experience managing multiple simultaneous and demanding deadlines.
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Strong skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word
Willingness to travel around the world
Experience in business process transformation and generating business cases is preferred.
Excellent writing skills and previous publishing experience (desired)
Proven experience in managing comparative research projects (desired)
