Offer DescriptionThe research activity will focus on the characterization of genetic diversity, monitoring of inbreeding, and evaluation of signs of selection in livestock animals through the analysis of genealogical and genomic data.
This aims to maintain biodiversity and improve production traits, with a specific focus on sustainability and animal welfare.
The development of tools dedicated to biodiversity protection and the economic sustainability of the livestock sector will be guaranteed.
The livestock sector will benefit from new tools for managing mating plans and selection indices, ensuring competitiveness among breeding associations.
In the medium term, the research project will also benefit society by enabling a more targeted and efficient use of livestock resources, potentially reducing the impact of human activities on the environment.
The scientific productivity objectives are linked to the publication of at least one paper per year in Q1 journals.
The candidate will conduct lectures on General Zootechnics and Genetic Improvement as part of the training activities within various veterinary and animal science programs, including post-graduate training courses (PhD, University Masters, Specialization Schools, advanced training courses) within the Department or University.
