This is a position with grade 13 This position reports to R&D Team Lead Your role and responsibilities We are looking for an R&D HW Engineer to join the Research and Development - Special Circuit Breaker Team based in Dalmine (IT), developing and integrating embedded electronics for advanced Medium Voltage circuits in our Electrification business. The work model for the role is LI-Hybrid. This role contributes to the Distribution Solutions Division within the Electrification Business Area in Dalmine. You will be mainly accountable for: Realizing the HW design of architecture and technical details, simulating circuits, and developing electronic projects which require knowledge of analog, power supply, and power electronics. Taking care of design optimization by identifying technical, architectural, and circuitry solutions, and exploiting the highest integration with the rest of the product (mechanical part, control, and sensors). Running prototype development, implementing executive drawings, and the entire project documentation (from pre-feasibility studies to detailed design documents), carrying out preliminary tests for design pre-validation, analyzing the quality and reliability of the product, debugging prototypes, and collaborating in the integration with control FW. Drawing up the technical documentation required for production of the electronic product and carrying out activities to support and maintain the products when requested. Working closely with other functions and suppliers, and coordinating external partners for hardware-related services when necessary. Qualifications for the role Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering Up to 5 years of experience in Embedded HW design in industrial applications Expert in the use of laboratory instruments for studying, debugging, integrating, and testing prototypes, including power supply design, signal integrity, and analog signal conditioning/filter stages. Experience with EMI design and troubleshooting Good knowledge of oscilloscopes, function generators, and other test equipment; familiar with electronic board re-working Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes is a plus Demonstrated proactivity, the ability to create innovation, as well as strong negotiation and networking skills Comfortable communicating in English and Italian, both written and spoken Positive spirit, proactivity, teamwork, speediness, problem-solving orientation, and commitment to delivering results in both local and international contexts More about us ABB's Distribution Solutions Division facilitates the efficient and reliable distribution, protection, and control of power by improving electric power quality while strengthening the resilience of the grid.
