Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Head of IT to lead and drive our IT department with a strong focus on operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. This role demands deep technical expertise, a proactive problem-solving mindset, and the ability to independently design, implement, and manage complex IT systems. The ideal candidate will not only be a technical leader but also a strategic thinker who fosters a culture of growth, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration. The Head of IT will engage with senior management, cross-functional departments, and external stakeholders to align IT strategies with business objectives, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Hands-on Implementation & Technical Leadership: Design, develop, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure, networks, and cloud-based solutions, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. Team Growth & Knowledge Transfer: Act as a mentor, fostering technical excellence and professional development within the IT team, ensuring effective knowledge-sharing. Innovation & Digital Transformation: Identify and implement cutting-edge technologies to optimize business operations and drive competitive advantage. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other department heads, senior management, and external partners to align IT initiatives with business goals. IT Governance & Security: Establish and enforce IT policies, compliance measures, and cybersecurity protocols to protect company assets and ensure data integrity. Infrastructure & Operations Management: Maintain a robust, scalable, and resilient IT environment through proactive maintenance, system upgrades, and disaster recovery planning. Service Excellence & Vendor Management: Maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors, evaluate IT products and services, and ensure SLAs are met. Budgeting & Cost Optimization: Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and optimal return on investment. Business Analysis & Project Leadership: Leverage strong business analysis skills to effectively guide IT projects, ensuring well-defined requirements and alignment with business objectives. Integration Collaboration: Work closely with the integration team and management of Galileo Italia to ensure seamless system integration, data flow, and alignment of IT strategies across the organization. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications (e. g. , Cisco, Microsoft, ITIL, etc. ) are a plus. 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, and network architecture, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Java development experience is a strong plus, particularly in enterprise applications and system integration. Proven hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and managing IT infrastructure, including servers, networking, virtualization, and cloud computing solutions (Microsoft Azure). Strong expertise in Microsoft and Linux environments, database administration, cybersecurity, and enterprise IT applications. In-depth knowledge of privacy regulations, data protection best practices, and cybersecurity frameworks (e. g. , GDPR, ISO 27001). Ability to configure and manage Cisco networking and security devices. Experience in configuring and managing VMware virtualization environments. Proficiency in configuring and managing Microsoft Azure cloud services. Experience in managing IT projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering to implementation and support. Ability to train, mentor, and develop an IT team, ensuring best practices and continuous improvement. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, self-sufficient approach to tackling technical and business challenges. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with senior management and cross-functional teams. Fluent in English (both written and spoken). Strong business analysis skills to effectively guide IT projects and collaborate with business stakeholders.
