Role:

A priority in the first 60 days of the role is to perform a full review of our current software architecture and platforms to then work with the SLT team and business leaders to create a plan to improve our engineering practices, delivery, quality, and value creation.

Define and communicate the software engineering strategy and lead the agile transformation driving agility in how we deliver value to our business & customers.

Work closely with the Enterprise Service & Ops team at all times to ensure a DevOps mindset to the creation and live running of all our software.

In partnership with Service, develop our DevOps strategy towards our vision of Creating a culture and mind-set for collaboration between product, development and service.

Work closely with senior Product & Delivery group leads to align resource, plans and skills, ensuring successful delivery of our Product roadmap & customer implementations.

Operating as part of the Enterprise Technology Senior Leadership Team ensure an efficient, collaborative and quality End to End software development process including a transparent view of resourcing and planning.

Enhance the engineering capability to support current and future demand including building an attractive career path for engineering to attract and retain the best talent at all career levels.

Engage with internal/external customers in partnership on solution, service, integration & delivery planning.

Maintain a close understanding of changes in software development tools, methodologies and languages and alter engineering strategy to maintain industry relevance.

Ensures that team organization, individual development, and communication are in line with the Cox Automotive vision.

Builds scrum and leadership teams that perform at a high level.

Fosters inter-team collaboration and productivity.

Implements, measures and reports on the execution strategy defined for the team.

Execution includes delivery of planned work that meets company standards with respect to quality, scalability, and reliability.

Effectively communicates with key stakeholders when either scope or timeline of projects requiremodification.

Oversees engineering processes and ability to generate new processes to meet needs.

Works closely with senior leadership on continual process improvement and organizational change to support Agile values.

Responsible for appropriately allocating teams to the highest value investments per business backlog and release planning.

Formulate and communicate mitigation strategies for long running projects or projects where risk is high.

Working closely with the Director Of Engineering to define the longer-term strategy for Software Engineering across the UK & Europe in order to drive efficiencies and innovation through integration.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

BSc in Computer Science or equivalent Proven experience as a senior executive with 10 years of experience and responsibility for R&D and Software Engineering and/or Solution Design teams 50+ head count Proven ability to lead and build teams Ability to inspire and motivate an organisation at all levels Proven experience of performance managing in a highly technical product, systems and solution environment Experience managing highly distributed organisations and working with multiple cultures Solid foundation of quality system training and total quality implementation Experience managing 3rd party suppliers, including offshore.

Demonstrated experience developing and implementing product delivery best practices Technical Skills

A complete understanding of the Software Delivery Lifecycle and supporting delivery methodologies including Agile, Lean and Scrum.

Experience in the agile delivery of enterprise solutions utilising technologies such as PHP, modern JavaScript libraries, SQL Server and AWS (PAAS and IAAS).

An understanding of supporting systems including GIT Actions, Git, Microservices using Service Fabric, Docker, Kubernetes Linux/Windows containerization
