**ROLE SUMMARY**:
We are seeking an outstanding Head of Sport to lead and deliver the Sports programme at our Caviglia campus, in the south of Milan.

As Head of Sport, you will be responsible for developing first class provision across curricular, competitive and co-curricular sports programmes. A keen sports person yourself, you will be a positive ambassador for the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and participation in sport.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Leading the planning, delivery, and evaluation of curricular, competitive and co curricular Sport in the school
- Planning and teaching engaging, ambitious lessons, with a focus on skills progression to children across the school
- Building a strong network with other Heads of Sport in the local area to maximise opportunities for fixtures, workshops and joint planning and PD days.
- Develop an elite sports programme
- Promote and celebrate Sports and school sport in all its aspects both within and beyond the Caviglia community
- Organise and supervise fixtures, tournaments, tours etc, working with the sports department to maximise the opportunities for children across upper KS2 and KS3 to compete.
- Lead the House sports programme of termly competitions and awards
- Identify sporting talent and work with parents and external agencies or trainers as appropriate to support individuals to excel in their chosen field
- Review and revise all risk assessments, policies and departmental documentation to ensure they reflect international gold standards
- Ensure that all teachers delivering the sports programme are appropriately qualified and that their skills and qualifications are kept up to date
- Line manage other colleagues in the Sport department
- In addition to the above leadership responsibilities, the Head of Sport will also be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher in the school. This includes but is not limited to: taking on the role of a form tutor; communicating on progress via reports and parent meetings; supporting supervision of students throughout the school day; covering lessons for absent colleagues and contributing to the wider life of the school. **THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE**:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education (or PGCE / equivalent)
- Established sports leadership experience in a range of educational settings
- Experience of contributing to/ involvement in a high quality extra and co curricular provision
- Genuine interest in developing a best in class curricular, competitive and co curricular sport programme and the interpersonal and leadership skills to implement this
- High professional standards and a dedication to excellence across all aspects of school provision
- Confident, articulate communication skills
- A positive and flexible approach to school life and middle leadership
- Resilience and determination
- Experience of implementing and leading quality assurance processes for continuous improvement
- Some ability to speak Italian is desirable although not essential
- Enjoyment and genuine interest in working with and learning from students aged 3 - 14
