Due to significant commercial growth in this sector, WSP Italia – Business Area – Power and Energy is currently looking for an intern as Health & Safety Engineer to join us based in Rome or Rende (Cosenza).

This is a 6 month internship.

At the end of the internship, employment with the company will be evaluated.

The successful candidate will join our multi-discipline and cross-national team supporting in the development of projects in renewables sector and will have access to an unparalleled network of resources and opportunities to collaborate on exciting projects with diverse teammates from across the globe.

YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT'S INVOLVED?

The individual will be responsible for performing routine engineering tasks that require the application of engineering principles and methods.

This includes completing specific portions of assignments using prescribed techniques and compiling, verifying, and analysing data to address engineering challenges.

They will assist in the preparation of designs, studies, reports, and other process deliverables while performing calculations, simulations, and preliminary analyses with accuracy and attention to detail.

The role also involves utilizing computer programs and tools as directed to support various engineering tasks.

In addition, the individual will contribute to the preparation of material requisitions, specifications, and related documentation, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

They will coordinate assigned tasks with other technical team members under guidance and assist in the development and verification of project control documents and status reports.

Collaboration and adherence to established procedures are key components of this role to ensure successful project execution.

The main work activities will concern the development of consultancy services in the Health & Safety field for the various phases of projects that may be in Italy and abroad.

The role involves conducting field audits to ensure health and safety (HS) compliance and performing technical due diligence.

Responsibilities include drafting technical reports and specialist documents such as risk assessments, safety and coordination plans, fire risk assessments, and emergency plans.

The individual will also support the development and maintenance of management systems and HSE procedures, including updating policies, guidelines, and operating instructions.

Additional tasks include designing and delivering HSE training events, providing specialist consultancy for safety management on civil or industrial construction sites across all design phases, and preparing technical design specifications.

The role also requires participating in meetings with authorities and offering technical support to WSP clients throughout project development.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS Master degree in safety, or civil/environmental engineering with specific experience in the field of safety at work and on construction sites; knowledge of the regulations applicable to the Health and Safety sector; Knowledge of the main fire regulations applicable to the civil and industrial sectors; Knowledge of the main IT tools (Office package, AUTOCAD etc.
