Hauptaufgaben Incumbent troubleshoots, maintains and makes repairs to all systems of such heavy tactical mobile equipment.

Through audio and visual checks, and the use of a variety of diagnostic devices (e. g. , injector testers, tachometers, multimeters, compression testers, engine analyzers, oscilloscopes, traces and locates defects.

Using such tools and devices of various types and sizes of screwdrivers; pliers; pullers; sicker, torque, and other types of wrenches; grinds; and similar tools of the trade, makes major repairs to all systems (diesel and gasoline engines, automatic and manual transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls).

Disassembles, repairs (e. g. , fits and installs pistons, rods, and rings; grinds valves; replaces bearings, cylinders, voltage regulators, generators), and reassembles engines.

Disassembles and replaces or adjusts component parts (e. g. , gears, clutches, bolts, seals, gaskets) of transmission, driveline, and differential systems.

Repairs hydraulic systems by replacing or adjusting valves, gears and pistons, Removes and replaces complete electronic ignition assemblies as required.

Aligns, meshes, and corrects repaired units to related mechanisms and measure adjustments as needed.

Troubleshoots, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to electrical components and more extensive repairs to the engine assemblies of power-generating equipment systems) Through audio and visual checks, and through the use of a variety of diagnostic devices (e. g. , multimeters, compression testers, amp meters, injector testers, pressure gauges, tachometers, battery testers), traces and locates defects.

Using tools such as those mentioned above, removes and replaces seals, valve heads, gaskets (fabricating same as needed), pistons and piston rings, bearings, fuses, fuel injectors, pumps, radiators, alternator, and voltage regulators.

Makes manual adjustments to governors as required.

Periodically travels to remote sites, away from the installation, in the performance of these duties.

Performs less complex repair and maintenance on the types of equipment identified above.

Removes and reinstalls such readily accessible parts as belts, hoses, clamps, filters, fuel pumps and lines, prongs, shock absorbers, spark plugs, wheel cylinders, mufflers, brake and axle assemblies, steering assemblies, carburetors, and the like.

Adjusts distributors, gaps spark plugs, sets engine idle and timing, and makes similar adjustments.

Operates a forklift to move, stack, unstack, load and unload materials.

NOTE: Tour of duty is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 08. 00 to 17. 00, including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break.
