As **Hematology Therapeutic Area Lead **in Italy, you will play a pivotal role in channelling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives.
In the last 15 years, the efforts of AstraZeneca have been focused mainly in finding effective treatments for the cure of breast, prostate, ovarian and lung cancer and the area of interest are becoming every day broader due the new exciting results that have been recently presented also in different tumor types.
In this contest, AstraZeneca is facing a new challenge by developing a consistent pipeline in onco-hematology, exploring a large number of new molecules in different settings, such as CLL, NHL, mantle cell lymphoma, multiple myeloma and lymphoblastic acute leukemia.
In particular, in a rapidly evolving scenario, CLL is in this moment the main onco-hematological area in which AstraZeneca is getting closer to launch a promising new drug.
As **Hematology Therapeutic Area Lead **you will contribute to the development of medical strategy and provides Medical input into Brand Strategies ensuring support of the life cycle of the assigned products.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Head of Medical Affairs Oncology Italy, you will lead the Hematology Medical Team and provide a consolidated medical and strategic input to the definition and implementation of the short/long term plans products.
You will ensure the timely and effective implementation of local/European and global Hematology projects, complying with international guidelines and AZ policies as well as relevant local legislation and applicable laws, and you will guarantee coordination between Medical and the crossfunctional teams : Marketing, Market Access, Diagnosticsteams to support and develop business initiatives.
**MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
The role broadly includes the following key components:
- Ensure, in cooperation with Hematology crossfunctional teams the definition and implementation of the short/long term TA plans, by providing medical vision and strategic inputs
- Maintain close contacts with global brand/TA teams, and play a pro-active role within Europe and global medical affairs teams to increase the involvement of AZ Italy, especially in the early phase development plans
- Define the TA plans in terms of confidence and evidence generation and ensure their successful and timelyimplementation, according to the global/local Company's strategies and policies, as well as local rules/laws
- Ensure constant overview of planning and budget and highquality execution study protocols and other scientific initiatives (eg advisory boards, congress symposia) related to Hematology, through the regular review of activities, times, costs and resources allocation, according to Corporate policies and guidelines.
- Manage the assigned resources (MSL Manager/ Medical Advisers) and ensure their development through a continuous technical and scientific professional development and coaching.
- Ensure the scientific input given by MSL Manager/ Medical Advisers to the preparation and review of promotional materials and other documents (eg pricing and reimbursements dossier, regulatory files) is of high quality and in line with the defined Hematology strategy.
- Ensure a timely communication/publication of results of local studies on high quality journals/ congresses, according to AZ policies and International rules.
- Develop and maintain high level contacts with KEEs/Scientific Community, to increase AZ image and Company know-how in the TA fields.
- Ensure TA safety issues and local Risk Mitigation plans are properly managed, to protect patients' health and AZ business.
- Manage all activities and Account relationship according with Company Values, Code of Conduct, Guidelines/Internal procedures and Italian legislation.
**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Medical Degree (preferred), PhD or PharmD
- Solid experience of Medical Affairs function within pharmaceutical international industry, preferably in Hematology or Onco-Hematology field and with proven track record in prelaunch and LCM medical activities of complex Oncology /Hematology portfolio
- Experience in relationship and stakeholders management
- Solid experience in people management
- Leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills

- Fluent in Italian and English
