JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Housekeeping TraineeDepartment: HousekeepingReports to: Executive Housekeeper and Housekeeping SupervisorsOverview: To assist the Executive Housekeeper in the smooth and efficient operation of the housekeeping department ensuring maximum guest satisfaction, and adhering to the standards required by the hotel and assist in the planning process. Main Duties:Responsible for the cleanliness of the entire hotel, specifically responsible for the cleanliness of all assigned rooms. Ensure colleagues are aware of the relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to department objectives. Assist in maintaining records of all deep cleaning work, window cleaning, and carpet shampooing. Follow up on all out of order rooms. Ensure correct distribution and control of master keys. Conduct inspections of corridors, public areas, back of house, and rooms to ensure proper cleaning. Ensure all equipment is well maintained and properly handled. Handle guest complaints in accordance with the correct GIA form and report all complaints to the Executive Housekeeper. Check log books and follow up on outstanding matters. Assist in taking various inventories. Communicate to colleagues the importance of meeting customer needs and ensuring resource availability. Actively promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization. Ensure appropriate communication processes are established. Be constantly aware of cost savings to ensure expenses are under control. Create exceptional guest experiences. Be responsible for Housekeeping team members and communication with the outsourcing company. Administrative Tasks:Mini-bar control; requisition. Opportunity to work with the Director of Housekeeping on staff planning, organization of the Department, and quality programs such as Gallup and Mystery Shopper. Cost control and budget management. Opportunity to work together with Departmental Trainers on completing the Housekeeping Manual. Operational Duties:Ensure all services offered in the housekeeping department are available and carried out with utmost efficiency and courtesy as per the department operations manual. Liaise with the Front Office on anticipated guest check-ins, check-outs, room assignments, and rooming list. Liaise with F&B for special needs. Domestic Duties:Keep all areas of the home, including all toilets, clean and tidy, including washing, dusting, polishing, vacuum cleaning, and sweeping as appropriate. Discuss with the resident and/or their key carer individual rights and choices in relation to room cleaning. Ensure all cleaning equipment/materials are maintained in a safe, clean, and efficient working condition. Report any items requiring repair to the Administrator. Ensure the Administrator is aware of the need for replacement materials and equipment for satisfactory performance of duties. Wear protective clothing in accordance with hygiene regulations and infection control guidelines. Laundry Duties:Sort washing, load and unload machines, taking care to use correct temperatures depending on types of fabric. Sluicing of linen where necessary, hand-washing of resident's clothing as required. Iron and press clothing and linen as necessary. Sort and fold residents' clothing ready for repair and putting away.
