Hybrid Electric System Design Leader
Job Description Summary**:
The Hybrid Electric System Design Leader is responsible to plan, coordinate, and carry out analyses, trade off studies, design, verification, validation and technology accrual activities for airborne Hybrid Electric Integrated Propulsion Controls System, whose breakdown will encompass electrical drivers, electrical motor/generator, propulsion control algorithms, embedded systems and thermal management systems and whose integration will require a cross functional and multidisciplinary approach.
**Essential Responsibilities**:
- To collaborate with System engineering, Controls and Fluidic teams to transform customer needs into integrated propulsion control system, subsystems and components requirements for NTI programs to meet product requirements (performance, power density, cost, quality and schedule), diagnostic needs, environmental requirements in compliance with the applicable aerospace industry standards.
- To support product development processes in conjunction with Control System engineering.
Duties include managing workflow, supporting documentation creation and common practices such as FMEAs, design reviews, change management, product validation, product verification, and diagnostic development.
- To lead problem resolution utilizing standards and methodologies widely spread and currently in use within the aviation industry, e. g.
design for RAMS, cost driven design optimization, Model Based System Engineering.
- To liaise with different adjacent discipline stakeholders within Engineering team (e. g.
Software, Fluidic, Transient & Performance, Mechanical Systems)
- To plan and coordinate Hybrid Electric Integrated Propulsion Control System and relevant subsystems design, testing and validation activities, based on technology accrual and product development plans, up to the final stages of system integration, to assure the operational and functional requirements compliance with product/program requirements.
- To assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned tasks is consistent with engineering policies and procedures while delivering control system certification reports for the US FAA, European EASA and other national airworthiness agencies.
- To formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments.
- To monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- Master of Science in Engineering, Aerospace, Electrical or Computer Science are preferred
- Knowledge of airborne propulsion control system discipline and technology
- Knowledge of mechanical drives that interface with electric motors and generators
- Proficiency in written and oral English and Italian
- EU work permit
**Desired characteristics**:
- Knowledge of the aviation industry's mostly adopted methodologies and standards for airborne complex systems development and certification (e. g.
SAE ARP4754, SAE ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160G)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
