NoOffer DescriptionThe aim of the project is both to maintain the current collection of strains of lignicolous fungi and to increase the biodiversity of different taxonomic groups.
The research work involves the isolation and characterization of strains from sporophores that grow in little-explored environments (e. g. , Mediterranean scrubland) or that belong to critical taxonomic groups (e. g. , Corticiaceae). The newly isolated strains will also be characterized through omics sciences, particularly proteomics and metabolomics, to identify new potential applications in various fields such as nutraceuticals, cosmetics, bioremediation, and especially agro-industrial waste recycling and valorization. The strains will be maintained in DSTA's research collection (MicUNIPV). Main RequirementsDegree (with a course duration of not less than 4 years) or post-graduate degrees awarded by Italian or foreign Universities recognized as equivalent. Scientific or professional curriculum suitable for conducting the research activity. If available, any Ph. D. title. Further Specific Assessable QualificationsDocumented research experience on:Isolation and taxonomic identification of fungal strains, including through biomolecular analysisMaintenance of fungal strainsCharacterization of mycelia of lignicolous fungiTechniques for selection of strains useful for degradation of recalcitrant materialScientific publications consistent with the research activity envisaged by the Fellowship.
