Information Technology Specialist (Infosec)
Duties**:
- Serve as the point of contact for all aspects of information assurance, computer network defense, and network security within the Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC) footprint.
- Advise the Cybersecurity Division leadership on risks associated with each system or network authorization and provide comprehensive recommendations for the Authorizing Official (AO)'s consideration.
- Implement information systems security technology and procedures, to include Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) that address access control and authentication of users and transmitted information.
- Provide quality control of assigned developing accreditations prior to submission to the Security Control Assessor (SCA).
- Serve as an administrator required to conduct Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) network security scanning using various tools.
- Responsible for reviewing and analyzing scans of all unclassified/classified servers, devices, and workstations on the networks to validate compliance in accordance with the Information Assurance Vulnerability Assessment (IAVA) program.
- Support the Cybersecurity Policy development by recommending, implementing, and enforcing cybersecurity compliance during and after the introduction of IT network systems and devices onto the RNEC managed network.

- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315. 19.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid official U. S. Passport
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570. 01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within 6 months of entry onto duty.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) for the duration of employment.
- This position requires a medical examination.
The incumbent is required to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekend in support of related mission requirements.
- Required to possess a valid state driver's license to operate a passenger vehicle for operating government vehicles.

In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

**Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC)**:
**Specialized and Other Experience**:One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing and evaluating the security impact of system changes; developing local plans, policies, or practices necessary to provide guidance and assistance in all aspects of hardware and software security; and recommending corrective actions for system deficiencies or vulnerabilities.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
**(1) Attention to Detail -** Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
**(2) Customer Service -** Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
