Information Technology Specialist (Networking)
Duties**:
- Serves as a Data Center administrator within the J633 Network Infrastructure Division, located in the Communications Division, United States Africa Command at Del Din, Italy.
- Serves as a data center administrator for both the classified and unclassified Data Center network infrastructure and architecture.
- This position will provide recommendations for new technologies and enhancements to provide a more modern and robust AFRICOM Data Center.
- Performs rekeying of COMSEC devices as necessary and maintains rekey data on all assigned devices.
- Selectee proactively coordinates and carries out the activities and processes required to deliver and manage network services.

- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Incumbent must able to obtain and maintain a no fee United States Passport.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is required approximately 20% of the time requiring the employee to travel away from the normal duty station.
- This position is designated as IAT Level II position.
- Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD 8570. 01-M.
- Overtime will be required on short notice.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET eligibility with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information.
The IT classification for this position is IT I.
Position is designated as Special Sensitive.
- Shift work may be required on a 24/7 basis and may be necessary during exercises, crises, or contingencies.
- This position is designated as mission essential.
Employee may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings.
- May be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
- The incumbent may also be in an "on-call" status on a rotational basis with other members of their team.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Must successfully pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- May be required to carry a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) cellular device.
- Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts and weekend.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.
Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: Configuring and troubleshooting cryptographic equipment, routers, and switches within a LAN/WAN; installing and ensuring control of equipment within a Data Center; Designing and installing networks/systems and network equipment.
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: resolving routine and non-routine problems, questions, or complaints; developing and maintaining strong, mutually supportive working relationships with customers; conducting evaluation of support to determine quality of services and customer satisfaction, and recommending procedural changes based on customer need or changes in policy and/or regulation.
