Information Technology Specialist (Security)
Duties**:
- Serve as a Cybersecurity Information Technology (IT) Specialist (INFOSEC), working under the general supervision of the Cybersecurity Division Chief, at a Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC).
- Provide Command Control Communications and Computer Information Management (C4IM) customer services support to regional and installation users, ensuring IT requirements and functions are met and provided to satisfactory levels.
- Execute the RNEC? s Communications Security (COMSEC) program and posture.
- Evaluate the implementation of Department of Defense (DoD), Headquarters, Department of Army (HQDA), Unites States Army, Europe (USAREUR), and Joint Command COMSEC regulations, and other policy at higher HQs, installation and battalion levels.
- Identify new requirements to meet both day-to-day and future Cybersecurity mission requirements for the installation networks/communications, modernization and long-term life cycle.
- Provide staff guidance and assistance on COMSEC matters and initiatives and recommend courses of actions for the improvement and effectiveness of COMSEC operations.
- Represent the battalion at higher-level COMSEC conferences and meetings.
- Review planning data and evaluate requirements for COMSEC services and recommend needed facilities and equipment.
- Assist in the development of organizational policy and procedural guidance implementation.
- Develop and manage the Organization's Risk Management Framework program.

- You will be required to provide proof of U. S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315. 19.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid official U. S. Passport.
- This position MAY be eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed Unscheduled Telework.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570. 01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within 6 months of entry onto duty.
- In performing above duties, overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- This position requires a medical examination.
The incumbent is required to lift up to 40 lbs.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U. S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

**Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Security)**:
**Specialized and Other Experience**: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing system and network event management logs in accordance with department of defense security controls; evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of current information assurance (IA) capabilities; and ensuring the installation's Communications Security (COMSEC) program is in compliance with higher governing authority policies and guidelines.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their pr
