Job Description Summary: Information Technology Technicians for Classroom Support are the main source of technological assistance for professors and presenters in classroom settings. The main responsibilities of these technicians entail:
Answering phone calls made to the Classroom Support Hotline. Working alongside CTS staff to provide support to university faculty, staff and sometimes, fellow students. Assessing and resolving reported issues in the classroom. Guiding professors and presenters on how to use classroom equipment. Troubleshooting hardware and software issues in classroom equipment. Writing classroom activity reports describing issues and solutions. During downtime, these technicians may assist with the following:
Equipment inventory and maintenance. Replacement of broken classroom media equipment when applicable. Maintenance and updates of Crestron software. Requirements: Preferred candidates will possess the following skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in contexts of customer service; the ability to handle potentially unfavorable situations. Excellent interpersonal skills, specifically the ability to cultivate positive work relationships. Working knowledge of media equipment operation and interfacing. Well-developed problem-solving skills. High degree of adaptability. Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, Zoom, and PowerPoint. Classroom Technologies will train any new technicians to be successful on the job. This Information Technology Technician position comes with responsibilities and sometimes challenging situations, but it prepares students for life after college; it provides the skills, the professional training and the life lessons needed for internal advancement and future fulfilling employment. Exemplary student employees will be recognized and promoted within Classroom Technologies.
This position is technical but not exclusive; students of all majors are welcome to apply.
CTS is currently interviewing primarily for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. CTS focuses on fostering a welcoming work environment where student employees are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Physical Demands Summary:
Should be able to carry laptop or similar device. Should be able to efficiently walk to academic buildings on campus. Occasional movement of heavy equipment (40 lbs. ) is required, all under staff supervision.
Wage Rate: $11. 25 per hour
