Installation Engineer In Semiconductor Industry
Applied Materials is the world market leader for special systems and manufacturing processes for semiconductor technology, electronics and display technology. We provide the technology to manufacture nearly every new chip and advanced display in the world. As an active member of the Iteam (Installation team), you are responsible for the Installation of semiconductor tools across the European Region (mainly in France, Italy, Germany, and Ireland). They roll in, assemble, connect, and test the new systems until they hand over to the service team and our customers for the manufacturing of wafers to kick off.
Being part of the Install Task Force is more than a job, it is a way of life. As a team they travel approx. 90 % of their working time, and also get opportunities to support installations worldwide.
Your key responsibilities as an Installation Engineer: Perform independently tool installation tasks (mechanical assembly, electrical connections, robot calibrations) from the integration to the inspection of the tools including troubleshooting in case of issues. Follow all checklists and procedures and ensure correct procedures and schematics are available prior to performing work. Test equipment with assistance from senior engineers, existing documentation and diagnostic techniques. Respond to fab issues by communicating with other engineers and participating in escalation conference calls. Participate in continuous improvement projects to reduce installation cycle time and costs. Provide accurate reporting of status, hours worked and non-conformances. Adhere to the security policy and quality standards of Applied Materials and its customers. Your education and experience: Technician, Bachelor's, or Master's degree with technical background like mechanical assembly, equipment installation, maintenance, mechatronics, electronics, electrical, mechanical, or similar. Some experience or knowledge with Applied Materials CVD/CMP/EPI tools would be an advantage but not required. Troubleshooting skills to solve mechanical and electrical issues during system installation. Ability to communicate daily pass-downs and equipment status reports. Project management skills to control installation project within budget, timeline and installation quality requirements. Ability to work autonomously. Confident in English to work with colleagues and experts from all over the world and to read plant documentations and schematics. Company language is English. Good Knowledge of the MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint). The position requires extensive travelling throughout Europe, up to 90%.
