Instructional Systems Specialist (Special Education)
Duties**:
- Provide guidance to school leaders and staff for the district's special education program (Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12).
- Provide leadership in designing/implementing special education services.
- Resolve special education program issues through effective oral and written communication.
- Model best instructional practices for the Special Education program to community staff.
- Analyze Special Education data to assess the district's Special Education program needs.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U. S.
Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Two year trial or probationary period may be required.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
- You may be required to sign a transportation agreement.
- You will be required to sign a mobility agreement, be available for worldwide placement, and be willing to rotate to any DoDDS or DDESS location.
- Individuals hired from the Continental United States (CONUS) and their family members (who are US citizens) are required to obtain Official Passports prior to departure to the overseas area.
- Individuals assigned to Italy, England, or Korea, are required to obtain a visa to enter these countries.
**Qualifications**:**Minimum Education Requirement**: A Master's degree in the field of
- **Special Education or Education**.
A Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology is also acceptable.
The course work must have been completed at or accepted by a regionally accredited U. S. college or university.
- The undergraduate/graduate course work must have included study in
- **at least three of the following five areas**:
- _Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology:_ Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
- _Educational evaluation:_ Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
- **This experience must have been in special education.
**Licensure/Certificate Requirement**: Applicants must be currently certified or certifiable under the current DoDEA standards as Teacher, Severely Learning Impaired/Multiple Disabilities (categories 0416, 0417 or 0418); Teacher, Physically Impaired (category 0419); Teacher, Mildly to Moderately Learning Impaired (categories 0420, 0421 or 0422); Teacher, Moderately to Severely Learning Impaired (categories 0423, 0424 or 0425); Teacher, Emotionally Impaired (category 0426, 0427 or 0428); Teacher, Preschool Children with Disabilities (category 0429); Teacher, Hearing Impaired (category 0470); Teacher, Visually Impaired (category 0471); or Teacher, Speech/Language Pathology (category 0472).

- Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care.
Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
- Medical and dental care may be provided by host nation providers.
The availability and level of care at host nation medical and dental facilities will vary by location.
- Selectees recruited outside the U. S. will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire.
