Context
The Academic Operations Division is responsible for programming, coordinating and delivering the daily management of the NDC Courses: the Senior Course (SC); the NATO Regional Cooperation Course (NRCC); the Generals, Flag Officers and Ambassadors' Course (GFOAC) and the Generals, Flag Officers and Ambassadors' Course for Partners (GFOACP); the Modular Short Courses (MSCs) and the Modular Short Courses for Partners (MSCP).
The AOD is also responsible for the programming, coordinating, delivering and daily management of the Field Studies, the English Refresher Course, the Daily Language Training, the Joint Forces Language Test, and all other activities of the NDC Courses.
The working environment in the AOD is often very busy and very demanding.
Routine preparation is required as well as the management of inevitable issues arising in a dynamic academic environment.

Job Description
Under the supervision of the AOD Assistant, the role of the Intern allocated to the AOD is to shadow the Division Assistant in lending overall assistance and support to the three branches of the division.
Routine administrative support is provided through the following events/tasks:
1.
Collaborating in the preparation and delivery of the English Refresher Courses, the Language Placement Test and the Daily Language Training;
2.
Helping in the preparation of Weekly screens, Seating Plans, Alert Plans, Course charts and lists, Operational Orders, Duty Rosters, etc. ;
3.
Proving assistance and cooperating in the arrangements for Course Inauguration and Graduation Ceremonies as well as any other AOD sponsored conferences or events;
4.
Helping in the ongoing cross check of documents, lists and files and lending daily support in practical preparation and delivery of the NDC Courses;
5.
Any other assistance or support required during the programme.
Flexibility, good communication skills, diplomacy, tact, teamwork, critical thinking/problem solving skills as well as the ability to work independently are essential prerequisites.
A very good level of English language proficiency is required whilst the knowledge of French and/or Italian would be beneficial but not essential.
NATO Defense College is only able to offer internship to people who are at least 21 and under the age of 30 and citizens of a NATO member country.
