https://alliancebioversityciat. org/ www.cgiar. org About the position Based in Rome, Italy and under the supervision of the Scientist I, Food Environment & Consumer Behavior, the Research Associate will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and support research activities, contributing to ongoing projects related to co-designing and testing food system solutions that put agrobiodiversity at their core.
The role will involve literature reviews, data collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and research dissemination particularly geared towards targeting potential funding.
A primary focus of this role will be research dissemination aimed at attracting potential funding, including stakeholder engagement and strategic communication.
The Research Associate will also contribute to ongoing projects that co-design and test food system solutions centered on agrobiodiversity.
Key responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, data collection and analysis, and supporting collaborative research efforts Responsibilities Documentation Based on project-related information, assist in drafting research reports, policy briefs, and academic publications.
Specifically, support with developing, editing, and designing knowledge and communication products focusing on the team's work, including: Scientific conference materials (e. g. , abstracts, posters and conference papers), working papers and corresponding research briefs.
Legacy products.
Manuals and other training materials.
Infographics and other visual materials.
Blogs and social media posts (e. g. , Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and 'X').
Fundraising and Proposal Development Use collected research data to identify potential funding opportunities.
Support the drafting of funding proposals and calls for proposals, particularly those linked to advancing school-based nutrition programs and revitalizing the cross-cutting initiative on biodiversity for food and nutrition.
Stakeholder Engagement Support coordination of research activities across multiple countries and programs.
Assist with reporting tasks and liaise with country focal points to collect information for reporting and other communication requirements.
Assist in organizing workshops, meetings, and presentations to disseminate research findings.
Support project management and provide assistance, where relevant, to other ongoing initiatives and activities including the Alliance's engagement with the School Meals Coalition, UN Nutrition's Community of Practice on School Nutrition, Indigenous Peoples' Food Systems Coalition's School Meals Working Line and the Global-Hub on Indigenous Peoples' Food Capacity Building and Learning Support South-South learning exchanges on school meal programs and food system innovations.
Specifically, support the management of the School Meals Nexus Enabler, including: Undertaking an internal landscape mapping exercise to identify who is doing what in the school food space, and how this might be best consolidated with a view to seeking funding and resources Drafting of external publications (e. g.
flyers and brochures) to highlight the work of the Alliance around school meals and school food environments Maintaining a well-organized internal database of the Alliance's school meals and school food environment literature, including articles, books, and reports on the designated MS Teams group Liaising with the communications team of the School Meals Coalition and the School Food Global Hub to feature the Alliance's work in school meals and school food environments.
Assist in documenting best practices and lessons learned from BDN and related initiatives.
Requirements Requirements Bachelor's degree or post-secondary education degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Food Systems, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
Strong analytical and writing skills, with experience drafting research reports or publications.
Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including data collection and analysis.
Knowledge of food systems, and/or school meal programs is an asset.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
Well-developed skills in personal organization, attention to details and accuracy. Solid interpersonal, communications and teamwork skills; courtesy and tact, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds. Excellent client orientation and service approach.
Excellent knowledge of the English language, written and spoken.
Working knowledge of the Italian language is desirable.
Benefits Terms of employment This is a nationally recruited position, based in Rome (Italy), open only to internal candidates, namely: regular staff members, complementary staff members and individuals who are currently employed or have completed a contract with Bioversity in the last 6 months.
The position BG6 level, on a scale of 14 levels, with level 14 being the highest and the salary range starts from Euro 43, 310.
The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, leave provisions, medical and life insurance, and non-contributory retirement plan.
The contract will be for a period of 1 year, subject to a probationary period of 6 months, and is renewable subject to performance, project needs and availability of funds. Please note that eligible applicants must have the legal status to live and work in Italy: Be Italian nationals holding a valid passport or identity card.
Or be EU citizens holding a valid passport or identity card and confirmation of registration from the Registrar's Office (Anagrafe).
