**The Property Design Team. . .
The Property Design team is responsible for driving innovation and design excellence across all of the JD Group brands on a global scale.
The department delivers inspiring, commercial retail environments for our consumers in order to maximise their shopping experience, whilst maximising profitability for the Group.
**The role. . . **:
The position of Retail Designer, is a key role in the global expansion of JD sports across Europe.
Working as part of the Property Design Team, this position necessitates a high principle of design standards with the creative ability to develop each store design on a project-by-project basis using the agreed store grading guidelines.
Strong leadership, communication and reporting skills are essential as is proven experience in a sports-fashion environment, designing and delivering stores within Europe.
This is an **Italian based role **with a strong emphasis on working collaboratively with a UK based head office team monthly travel to UK head office is potentially required as part of the role.
This role commands a varying degree of travel (Average between 1-2 days per week field based attending site meetings across Europe).
**Responsibilities**:
**Responsibilities
- Lead design projects within agreed territory, taking projects from brief through to completion
- Attendance of strategy meetings to obtain design briefs and general direction of projects
- Assist with the on-going development of the JD Store design
- Liaising with key project stakeholders at varying stages of projects working closely with internal departments (Acquisitions team, Project managers, Quantity surveyors, Retail, Marketing, Multichannel, IT, security, Health and Safety etc.
)
- Preparing drawing packs for statutory local approval process.
- Co-ordination of meetings to present completed store designs and obtain approval / feedback from teams based in the UK head office
- Attend site meetings; talking through the design with the project delivery team, check surveys and record site information, ensuring all information is up to date in all documentation
- Set up drawings in AutoCAD using landlords or survey information ensuring all work is accurate
- Space plan merchandise layouts using a design brief and commercial option targets
- Production of detailed plans, shopfronts, sections and elevations for proposed store designs and site specific details where required
- Liaising with external professional agencies such as structural engineers, planning department or consultants in order to obtain statutory approvals
- Offer assistance and support to all designers within the Italian and UK offices as necessary
- Partner on store design with the signage and graphics team who are based from the UK

- Must have excellent written & verbal language skills in English and Italian
- Experience of working on and delivering a variety of design projects within Europe
- Strong retail and commercial awareness, specifically within the sports fashion industry
- Proven experience at all stages of the design process, from conception through to implementation
- Ability to negotiate and influence at all levels
- Plan work streams and set deadlines
- Interpret briefs accurately and work efficiently to deadlines
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated and driven, with the ability to manage own workload to deadlines
- Excellent spatial awareness
- Detailed understanding of construction and shop fitting coupled with a good understanding of building regulations
- Be prepared to travel throughout Europe holding a full driving licence and a valid passport

- Expert level AutoCAD with working knowledge of how to build dynamic blocks
- Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud suite
- Ability to use all Microsoft Office programs
- An interest in the use and specification of sustainable materials and construction methods
- Desirable Skills: Working knowledge of Revit
**Qualifications**:
- Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design or other relevant qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years practical experience within the design/ architecture sector
