Role purpose: Responsible for the design and implementation of service LAN network capabilities that support reliable and secure hosted and collaborative services across Vodafone, with main focus in:

the overall High/Low Level Design and working configuration for the network capabilitiesestablishing the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, and defining, documenting and enforcing system standardsdesigning and implementing new solutions and improve resilience of the current environmentmaximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimizationdeveloping and expanding the team's technical skills and experienceIP connectivity design based on customer demand Key accountabilities and decision ownership: Responsible for High Level and Low Level Design engineering and network design optimization Drive increased quality of Vodafone network end to endProvide HLDs, LLDs, define templates, modularize and industrialize configuration items and their implementation, leveraging on the automation framework. Design and implement Cyber security measures to reduce the vulnerability of the Service LANImplement virtualization and segregation conceptsHarmonize data centre network environments and services. Harmonize LAN services, enable seamless access over a converged wired/wireless network to global IT systemsEngineer and deliver the network fit for purpose including understanding of how our services/applications layer will run across the network (capacity, capability, utilisation)Conduct proof of concept (POC) validationResponsible for optimal implementation process that delivers ensured quality Optimize the design and implementation costs and achieve a harmonized & simplified network infrastructureTake control over CAPEX budget; forecast, planning, allocation, approval process, administrationDeliver the validated solution to its operational environment and deliver training. Hand over the accepted solution to Operations and maintenance teamPlan changes and support of Change Management ProcessSupervise external supporters and 3rd partiesAssure quality in the design and implementation processSupport, Test & Accept/Audit the delivered solutionManage and control the different existing test environmentsDefine necessary test catalogues and test plansDocument test & QA activitiesResponsible to ensure a network documentation Support the state-of-the art network documentation for the implemented solution that is aligned with Cyber Security architectureEnsure the quality of the documentationSupport the data population and accuracy of the Asset- and Change Management - DatabasesResponsible to ensure network harmonisation and standardization across the Region / the local market Harmonize Service LAN network across European environments and servicesDrive network standards across Local marketsDrive + Support Network innovations as SDNCollaboration and Teamwork Alignment with other engineering, implementation, and operations teams in VodafoneDevelopment of harmonized solutions within Regions and Cyber SecurityShare expertise with other network teams across Vodafone Key performance indicators: Quality service LAN network design and implementation in time and budgetService LAN network connectivity delivery aligned to harmonised architecture. Service LAN Network infrastructure continuous improvement and simplificationInstallation / System / Design / Test documentation for the handover to operations with Knowledge transfer Core competencies, knowledge, and experience: Business skills: cultural understanding and strong communication skillsstrong team player and appreciate working in a project organizationstrong drive and interest in taking on new tasks and challengesthorough experience in project involving data centre, service management and ITIL processescapable of understanding and aligning service performance metrics with the best in class in Europe as well as investigating and reporting reasons for deviations elsewhere in a 'country-agnostic' perspectiveIn-depth knowledge in the following areas: Detailed knowledge in passive network infrastructureDesigned, developed, and executed System Test documents (Test Strategy, Test setup, Test Report), test case documentsExpert Knowledge in networks (TCP/IP, Protocols, Structures, Hardware, Security)Expert knowledge in Security protocols and measuresExpert Knowledge in the area of the installation and configuration of network components (Routers, Switches, VPN Gateways, Firewalls, Proxies, Load Balancers and others)Expert Knowledge in routing protocolsDeep knowledge of Gi-LAN network, features and servicesDeep knowledge of IP networks security systems, with experience on the engineering and management of FirewallsExpert Knowledge in network management and network analysisExcellent knowledge on the following network nodes and vendors:Cisco Router/Switches (Nexus, iOS, Catalyst)FortiNet (FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager)Juniper (SRX, EX, MX)F5 (LTM, GTM/DNS)Cisco Firewalls/VPN Concentrators (ASA)Tufin Must have technical / professional qualifications: An academic degree and at least 5 years work experience in an IT organization supporting large heterogeneous IT infrastructures. Good experience in project managementR&S CCNA or CCNP certifications strongly recommended.
