Ip & Security Data Center Engineer
Role purpose: Responsible for the design and implementation of service LAN network capabilities that support reliable and secure hosted and collaborative services across Vodafone, with main focus in:
the overall High/Low Level Design and working configuration for the network capabilities establishing the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards designing and implementing new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization developing and expanding the team's technical skills and experience IP connectivity design based on customer demand Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
Responsible for High Level and Low Level Design engineering and network design optimization
Drive increased quality of Vodafone network end to end Provide HLDs, LLDs, define templates, modularize and industrialize configuration items and their implementation, leveraging on the automation framework. Design and implement Cyber security measures to reduce the vulnerability of the Service LAN Implement virtualization and segregation concepts Harmonize data centre network environments and services. Harmonize LAN services, enable seamless access over a converged wired/wireless network to global IT systems Engineer and deliver the network fit for purpose including understanding of how our services/applications layer will run across the network (capacity, capability, utilisation) Conduct proof of concept (POC) validation Responsible for optimal implementation process that delivers ensured quality
Optimize the design and implementation costs and achieve a harmonized & simplified network infrastructure Take control over CAPEX budget; forecast, planning, allocation, approval process, administration Deliver the validated solution to its operational environment and deliver training. Hand over the accepted solution to Operations and maintenance team Plan changes and support of Change Management Process Supervise external supporters and 3rd parties Assure quality in the design and implementation process Support, Test & Accept/Audit the delivered solution Manage and control the different existing test environments Define necessary test catalogues and test plans Document test & QA activities Responsible to ensure a network documentation
Support the state-of-the art network documentation for the implemented solution that is aligned with Cyber Security architecture Ensure the quality of the documentation Support the data population and accuracy of the Asset- and Change Management - Databases Responsible to ensure network harmonisation and standardization across the Region / the local market
Harmonize Service LAN network across European environments and services Drive network standards across Local markets Drive + Support Network innovations as SDN Collaboration and Teamwork
Alignment with other engineering, implementation, and operations teams in Vodafone Development of harmonized solutions within Regions and Cyber Security Share expertise with other network teams across Vodafone Key performance indicators:
Quality service LAN network design and implementation in time and budget Service LAN network connectivity delivery aligned to harmonised architecture. Detailed knowledge in passive network infrastructure Designed, developed, and executed System Test documents (Test Strategy, Test setup, Test Report), test case documents Expert Knowledge in networks (TCP/IP, Protocols, Structures, Hardware, Security) Expert knowledge in Security protocols and measures Expert Knowledge in the area of the installation and configuration of network components (Routers, Switches, VPN Gateways, Firewalls, Proxies, Load Balancers and others) Expert Knowledge in routing protocols Deep knowledge of Gi-LAN network, features and services Deep knowledge of IP networks security systems, with experience on the engineering and management of Firewalls Expert Knowledge in network management and network analysis Excellent knowledge on the following network nodes and vendors: Cisco Router/Switches (Nexus, iOS, Catalyst) FortiNet (FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager) Juniper (SRX, EX, MX) F5 (LTM, GTM/DNS) Cisco Firewalls/VPN Concentrators (ASA) Tufin Must have technical / professional qualifications:
An academic degree and at least 5 years work experience in an IT organization supporting large heterogeneous IT infrastructures. Good experience in project management R&S CCNA or CCNP certifications strongly recommended. Result-oriented and enjoy taking initiative as well as responsibility Ability to work across multi-functional and cultural boundaries to deliver results/change goal-oriented and spirit of initiative as well as responsibility Fluent English oral and written, Very good Italian oral and written Budget owned: Ownership and responsibility for the budget spend in the responsible area.
