Organizational Setting The Agrifood Economics and Policy Division (ESA) conducts economic research and policy analysis to support the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood systems. The Office of Emergencies and Resilience (OER) is responsible for FAO's efforts to support countries in preparing for and responding to food and agricultural threats and crises. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) is a global initiative to facilitate decision-making with improved food security analysis. The IPC Global Support Unit (GSU), hosted within FAO, is responsible for the coordination of IPC normative development and global standards on quality and compliance. Reporting Lines Selected applicants will work under the direct supervision of the IPC Quality Assurance Team Leader. Technical Focus Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) - Quality Assurance processes in Acute Food Insecurity and Acute Malnutrition analyses. Tasks and Responsibilities The IPC is looking to identify experts with knowledge in the following areas: Facilitate or prepare IPC acute food security and nutrition analyses. Coordinate Quality Assurance support to IPC analyses. Coordinate Quality Assurance inputs in IPC technical briefs and reporting. Contribute to IPC Capacity Development initiatives. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING University degree in Agriculture, Economics, Nutrition, or related fields. Relevant experience in Integrated Food Security Phase Classification or food security analysis: Level A (Senior Expert) – at least 10 years of relevant experience. Level B (Expert) – at least 5 years of relevant experience. Level C (Specialist) – at least 1 year of relevant experience. Working knowledge of English, French, or Spanish. FAO Core Competencies Selection Criteria Knowledge of Portuguese is an asset. Experience in coordination and multifunctional team management. Experience in food security and nutrition analysis. Good facilitation and communication skills. Experience with statistical and data visualization software. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FAO does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
