Italian Language Coordinator - Nyu Florence
Position Summary:

The Coordinator of the Italian Language Program is expected to support, execute and promote this commitment and all NYU initiatives (including Affordability, Sustainability, and Student Success) in the day-to-day life of NYU Florence, with primary responsibility for the academic program, from course and lecturer planning to student learning.
This part-time 12-month position oversees the academic programming of the Italian language courses and teaches in the NYU Florence study away program.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Academic Services of NYU Florence and to the Co-Directors.
This role requires both administrative work and teaching, and will normally include: organize and schedule the Italian language courses: organize and oversees the activities connected to the Italian language courses and immersive language experiences; develop and mentor faculty; facilitate the development of proposals and activities connected to the language; adapt and oversee policies for the language program; organize workshops and/or activities for faculty development; teaching 3-4 courses per academic year (fall, spring and summer): the teaching task includes office hours and course preparation.
A key focus of the position is to ensure the effective delivery of excellence in the Italian language program that is consistent with NYU's leadership in international higher education.
The student body includes first-year, advanced standing, graduate, and visiting students from other institutions, as well as youth programs and adult learners, course content.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
Proven cultural sensitivity and eloquence to communicate appropriately with a multinational, multicultural and multireligious audience of academics and administrators.
Proven ability to direct and implement a variety of operations and activities for the Italian Department, to communicate policies and procedures and use problem solving and negotiating skills.
Knowledge of standard office software including Microsoft Office suite and online and traditional packages (e. g. , Google Docs).
Proficient in Italian (written and oral) near native speaker level.
Fluent in English (written and oral).
Legally eligible to work in Italy.
**Preferred Experience**:
Knowledge of NYU, its values and vision.
Experience in an academic environment with prior experience mentoring faculty.
Experience in U. S. and/or Italian higher education.
**Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
