Position Overview: We are seeking a motivatedJunior Optical Engineerto join our Metrology Lab team.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and testing of precision optics and optical systems for space missions.
As part of the metrology team, you will work with advanced equipment and techniques to ensure our products meet exacting specifications and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities: Perform precision measurements of optical components and systems using advanced metrology tools such as interferometers, profilometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Analyze and interpret metrology data to assess compliance with design specifications.
Collaborate with optical designers, manufacturing teams, and quality assurance to refine product designs and processes.
Assist in the development and validation of metrology procedures and calibration standards.
Maintain and troubleshoot metrology equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Document test results, analysis, and recommendations in technical reports.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Metrology Lab.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or a related field.
Basic knowledge of optics and optical systems, including lenses, mirrors, and coatings.
Familiarity with optical metrology techniques, such as interferometry and surface profilometry, is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and precision in data handling.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with optical design software (e. g. , Zemax, Code V) or data analysis tools (e. g. , MATLAB, Python).
Internship or coursework related to optical manufacturing or metrology.
Knowledge of environmental requirements for space applications (e. g. , thermal, vacuum, and vibration).
