The Junior Architect during the Winter Olympic Games Milano-Cortina 2026 will work with the OBS Construction team in the preparation, review and validation of the fit-out design packages for all IBC areas, represent the OBS Construction team, liaise with the Milano-Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee team during the IBC design phase and handover preparation phase, and report to the OBS Construction Management team, focusing on Architectural Design and Civil Works for the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) site in Milan, during the early stages of the project. For the Fit-Out phase, this position will perform as part of the supervision team on site. The IBC building is a 36, 000 m2 project and includes Architectural, Electrical, and Mechanical works.
Duties
For the Design Phase:
Assist in the review of all IBC fit-out design packages and their multiple iterations, verifying compliance with the clients' architectural requirements, on all elements including partitions, ceilings, doors, windows, finishes, space layouts, flows, and other bespoke design solutions. Check and validate all design packages for compliance with the established work methods for the prefabricated fit-out system. Coordinate with the external design contractor for the submissions to remain on target (deadlines) and consistent with the design demands and with the OBS team for the correct integration with all design trades. Review the Bill of Quantities pertaining to each design package, for consistency with the drawings. Prepare design packages for OBS areas in an AutoCAD 2024 environment. Monitor and control document exchange using Microsoft SharePoint. For the Fit-Out Preparation Phase:
Oversee, on behalf of OBS Construction, the ongoing temporary overlay and permanent works performed by the various stakeholders involved in the IBC GAP works at Fiera Milano as required. Perform the necessary site surveys and prepare progress reports in a recurrent and organized way. For the Fit-Out Assembly Phase:
Perform recurrent site inspections on ongoing works, reporting to the OBS Architect and Construction Manager directly and coordinating with her for all ongoing issues related to the IBC civil works project. Supervise civil and architectural works for the IBC fit-out project, focusing on compliance with final drawing versions, fit-out schedule, and expected quality. Handle efficiently all AutoCAD aspects of the architectural trade, reproducing, correcting, and printing drawings and plans of the project as required. Follow up on all architectural and civil works design decisions and changes agreed in coordination with the OBS construction team, aiding to ensure compliance on the construction site. Correctly implement all Health & Safety guidelines, registering and notifying related issues and assessing risks and suitability of the construction site. Provide support and facilitate the exchange of general and technical information between the construction team counterparts in the OCOG and specialists across all building and operations trades. For the Maintenance Phase:
Be responsible for the monitoring and resolution of civil and architectural issues during operations as part of the CMO (Construction Maintenance) team. This includes dealing with IBC occupants to detect and resolve any issues affecting their spaces that require OBS action. Participate in the CMO Maintenance Shifts, adapting to the 24/7 scheme of operations. Experience
Degree in Architecture and background knowledge of other construction trades. Excellent verbal and written English language; Italian language would be highly valued. Minimum of five years of experience as an architect, designer, or construction supervisor. Experience in the construction-related field, ideally in an international environment. Strong experience with AutoCAD and other digital design tools, as well as Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Knowledge of REVIT and other BIM software packages will be valued. Strong handling of basic web applications, and digital/mobile and remote working tools. Ability to multi-task effectively and manage changing priorities. Detail-oriented. Workplace & Environment
Operations based at the International Broadcast Centre (IBC). Subject to national/international criminal background checks. Fast-paced, construction work environment. During the design phase, from January 2025 to July 2025, the selected candidate will work remotely, joining the OBS team occasionally during meetings at the Host City as well as site surveys to IBC. During the fit-out phase, from July 2025 to December 2025, the position will be present, working at the IBC, 5 days per week. There will be rotations within the team to cover 1/2 days on Saturdays for fit-out supervision. During the Operational phase, from January 2026 to March 2026, the position will be present, working at the IBC, 6 days per week, with reduced hours per day. There will be rotations within the team to cover the weekends. During the Olympic and Paralympic Games specifically, the position, as part of the Maintenance team, works on shifts to provide extended coverage 24/7. During the Dismantling Phase, from March to May 2026, the position will be present, working at the IBC, 5 days per week. There will be rotations within the team to cover 1/2 days on Saturdays for fit-out supervision. How to apply
