YOUR TEAM Industrial Robotics Facility (InBot) tackles the challenges of bringing current robotics research to mainstream, under the coordination of Ferdinando Cannella, who has got a wide and long experience in industrial automation and robotics.

Thus, InBot bridges the gap between the academic and industrial forefronts, and specializes in automating complex labor-intensive tasks, inspection & monitoring of structures and infrastructures, and industrial handling.

Consequently, our research goals are also aligned towards autonomous robotic systems, dexterous manipulation, elasticity, and compliant material control.

Thanks to its breakthrough research, InBot is, and has been, involved in many (European and National) Projects, as well as industrial partnerships, and national and international universities and research centers collaborations.

Usually, these activities outcomes are prototypes, patents, and high-quality papers beyond the state of the art.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and positive person to join us.

We have built a team of dedicated roboticists in Control, AI, Vision, Navigation, and Manipulation.

We need mechatronic expertise to complete and link together all the skills of the Industrial Robotics Facility (InBot) at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT).

Your main responsibilities will be:

Development of robotic systems.

Collaborate with our scientists and engineers to understand their needs and translate them into functional product designs.

Design and develop advanced robotic systems.

Optimize the functionality and efficiency of our current mechatronic systems.

Manage the materials and equipment orders for accomplishing the projects and keeping our laboratory efficient.

Support the project managers in developing the prototypes.

Lead the feasibility studies with companies.

Conduct rigorous testing and validation of all new designs and modifications.

Stay up to date with the latest technological advancements in robotics and mechatronics, and propose their implementation where relevant.

Ensure all designs and modifications comply with applicable industry safety standards and regulations.

Create and maintain technical documentation, including design files, requirements, and manuals.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Candidates should have an MSc Degree (or be very close to submitting) in one of the following areas: Mechatronics, Control, Robotics, etc.

Proven experience in the design, development, and testing of robotic systems.

Proficiency in the following programming languages/OS is recommended: C++, Python, ROS, and Linux.

Familiarity with microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators.

Expertise in working with real robot systems and conducting research on physical hardware platforms.

Ability and willingness to incorporate novel ideas and approaches into the projects.

Ability to work effectively as part of an inter-disciplinary and regionally dispersed research team including students, plus the motivation and discipline to carry out autonomous research with limited supervision.

Strong communication and English language skills (written and spoken).
