The selected candidate will join the Software Validation team, focusing on testing and validating network equipment for fiber optic transport, contributing to the verification and validation of device and network node performance.
Key responsibilities include laboratory testing, test automation, and performance analysis of optical networks.
The Software Test Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Hardware Testing, Software Design, and Product Engineering, to develop high-quality products.
They will ensure the system's quality, reliability, and compliance throughout the development lifecycle.

We are open to evaluating both junior/graduate candidates and experienced professionals, with responsibilities assigned based on expertise level.
Responsibilities: Validate compliance with internal specs and industry standards, and test performances of Optical Network elements such as muxponders, amplifiers, and pluggable components used in DWDM systems.
Define the test process and procedure, and write complete system-level test plans for the entire product line.
Implement system-level testing, debug, isolate, analyze sophisticated problems, and facilitate root cause resolution.
Execute tests to identify defects and malfunctions in the system.
Analyze test results to identify issues and root causes.
Support SW Design Engineers and provide feedback on complex issues.
Mandatory Requirements: Master's degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering.
Knowledge of Optical Engineering fundamentals at least at an academic level.
Experience in telecommunication companies (newly graduated profiles can also be evaluated).
Knowledge of or experience with Bash, Python, or other scripting languages or automation tools.
Curious and willing to learn.
Creative problem-solving skills and excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills.
Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Fluent written and spoken English knowledge.
Nice to have: Ability to work in a laboratory environment, using diagnostic tools for optical networks.
Experience with Virtualization Platform VMware vSphere | OpenStack.
Experience with network testing tools (e. g. , OTDR, spectrum analyzers, traffic generators).
Knowledge of optical network protocols and transport standards (e. g. , SONET/SDH, DWDM).
Familiarity with test automation frameworks (e. g. , PyTest, Robot Framework).
Workplace: 100% on-site in Vimercate (MB).
