Junior Structural Engineer
The Junior Structural Engineer will join AVENTA Italia, contributing to structural engineering initiatives with a focus on ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
This role involves conducting detailed structural analyses, supporting design development, and optimizing engineering solutions for naval and offshore structures.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute assigned tasks within the structural engineering domain, ensuring compliance with relevant QA/QC, HSE standards, and industry regulations.
Apply expertise in naval engineering to execute technical activities and prepare key deliverables, including procedures, technical reports, structural drawings, and other project documentation.
Develop and refine design capabilities for various structures, including hulls, offshore platforms, transportation, installation engineering, stability, hydrodynamics, and mooring.
Prepare technical documentation required for requisitions, bid analyses, and purchase orders (POs).
Collaborate with the Structural Analysis Lead to advance excellence in naval engineering and support the continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Assist in project reviews, including document assessments and design optimization to enhance structural efficiency and safety.
Provide technical support for fabrication, construction, and installation processes related to hull and offshore structures.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Experience (from 2 to 4 years): Previous experience as a Structural Engineer, preferably within the Offshore Oil and Gas industry.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in structural calculation software and numerical simulation, with demonstrated expertise in:
Prescribing boundary conditions (e. g. , displacement, rotation, temperatures).
Selecting appropriate element types to accurately represent structural behavior.
Applying load histories (e. g. , force, pressure) to reflect realistic conditions.
Choosing appropriate calculation methodologies for simulations (static, dynamic, linear, non-linear, etc. ).
Software Skills: FEM simulation: Proficiency in ANSYS and GENIE.
2D Modeling: Proficiency in AutoCAD.
3D Modeling: Experience with Autodesk Inventor.
Naval Structural Engineering Knowledge: In-depth understanding of structural theory and practice in ship design, including:
Hull girder strength (longitudinal and transverse).
Pressure hull design and dynamic load management (e. g. , slamming).
Plates, shells, and adherence to classification society standards.
Construction and Installation Knowledge: Basic understanding of hull construction processes, fabrication techniques, and installation practices for offshore structures.
Industry Standards: Familiarity with specifications, codes, and standards relevant to the Oil & Gas and Shipbuilding industries.
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English; proficiency in Italian is an advantage.
