Lab Technician
DescriptionJob Summary:The Lab Technician is responsible for performing routine laboratory tasks, including preparing samples, conducting tests, and analyzing data to support the manufacturing or quality control processes.
They will maintain laboratory equipment, ensure a safe working environment, and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. Key Responsibilities:Sample Preparation: Prepare and process samples for analysis, including measuring, weighing, and mixing chemicalsConducting Tests: Perform tests, experiments, and analyses on various samples using laboratory equipmentData Collection Analysis: Collect, record, and analyze test data; ensure accuracy and consistency in results; assist with data interpretation. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning properly by performing regular calibration. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and non-conformance issues.
Document deviations from quality standards and help track corrective actions. Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines for handling hazardous materials, chemicals, and biological samples; ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Quality Inspection: Perform inspections on incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet company and industry specifications. Cleaning Organization: Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and work areas, maintaining a neat and organized lab environment. Process Improvement: Suggest improvements to processes, products, or testing methods to enhance quality and efficiency. Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with manufacturing and management to assist with experiments, analyze results, and provide support on various projects. Reporting: Assist in the preparation of lab reports, presentations, or projects based on test results, and communicate findings to supervisors or team members. RequirementsRequired Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in a related field (e. g. , chemistry, biology, industrial technology) is preferred. Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a quality control or laboratory role, but entry-level candidates with relevant academic training may also be considered. Technical Skills: Proficient in using measurement and testing instruments (e. g. , calipers, microscopes, spectrometers).
Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and quality standards (e. g. , ISO 9001). Attention to Detail: Strong ability to detect defects or discrepancies in products and processes. Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills for documenting findings and reporting issues to management. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify quality problems and work with cross-functional teams to resolve them.
