A Laboratory Engineer performs physio-chemical testing necessary for characterization of materials, typically metals, such as tensile testing, impact testing, hardness testing, chemical analysis and corrosion resistance assessment.

They perform macro and micro-structural evaluations using state-of-the-art optical microscopy image analysis.

They contribute to drafting technical procedures and work instructions.

The Materials Testing Technician or Engineer functionally reports to the Materials Testing Technical Lead, constituting the interface with internal and external stakeholders during execution of tests, validation of data and presentation of test results. Your Day-to-Day: Ethical approach of work and behaviors following Nuclear Safety Culture philosophy.

Promote and facilitate a meaningful discussion about Safety Culture Behaviors. Verification of testing samples and issuance of dimensional certificates.

Ordinary maintenance and routine checks of test equipment and apparatus.

Management of reagents and labware safely and according to environmental requirements.

Performance of materials testing, in accordance to established written procedures and international standards. Collection of data in accordance with requirements of the testing procedures and standard.

Secure storage of data in accordance with raw-data management procedures.

Validation of data produced by testing equipment or through calculations.

Report of test results or examination findings in forms of tabular data or structured reports. Issue of testing plans, in forms of detailed requirements for machining of samples, including 2D/3D sketches.

Assist in samples machining by internal workshop or subcontractor.

Performance of simple mechanical operations such as grinding, polishing, broaching, drilling or metal cutting.

Performance of heat treatments of test samples in laboratory-type furnaces. Follow-up of machining of samples or testing performed at suppliers' facility.

Validation of test reports issued by testing subcontractors.

Assist auditors as technical expert during qualification or follow-up of external suppliers for materials testing-related activities.
