Our systems engineers work with teammates both in the Mohawk Valley and across the country to deliver cutting-edge products to our customers. Position Details:Salary Range: $70, 000-$90, 000 a year.
This is a full-time exempt position. The development work will be performed at the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) in Rome, NY. Due to the clearance required for this position, only U. S. citizens are eligible to apply; as outlined in Executive Order 12968: Access to Classified Information, eligibility for access to classified information may only be granted to employees who are United States citizens. Responsibilities and Duties:Analyzing existing systems to enhance security, reliability, and availabilityUtilizing Linux administrative systems knowledge to support team members in testing and troubleshootingCollaborating with a team to test and evaluate systems using a Whitebox adversarial approachAssessing hardware and software systems based on NIST 800-53 RMF security controlsConducting testing and analysis to identify vulnerabilities, threat vectors, and potential exploitsDeveloping and engineering attack methodologiesApplying specific functional and working or industry knowledgeDeveloping or contributing to solutions for problems of moderate scope and complexityEducation and Certifications:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and 3 years of professional experience.
A degree in computer programming, software engineering, or a closely related technical field is required for many of our projects.
We will consider candidates with associate degrees or certificates in the areas listed above in combination with experience. Required Qualifications:Proven ability to design, deploy, and manage Linux server solutions in complex enterprise environments, with a minimum of 3 years of experienceDemonstrated skill in integrating servers with LDAP, SSO, and VMware technologies to support enterprise needsPossesses deep understanding of Linux server patch management practices and repositoriesExperience implementing and maintaining security standards such as STIGs for Red Hat or other Linux distributionsStrong background in scripting like PowerShell, VBScript, or Python to automate tasks and streamline processesFamiliarity with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift for deploying and managing applicationsAbility to develop, execute, and analyze test plans and procedures.
Proven experience in creating and maintaining technical documentationMaintain a positive and proactive attitude in a fast-paced and dynamic work environmentSecurity Clearance: Possess a Secret clearanceMust hold a CompTIA Security+ certification or IAT level II equivalent certificationQualifications:Bachelor's degree in information technology or computer scienceRed Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHSA) certificationDemonstrated experience in automating server deployment, common tasks, and installation procedures to improve efficiencyStrong understanding of VMware virtual server environments and the ability to optimize systems for performance and flexibilityProven ability to effectively coordinate with change control, environment management, network, and security teamsClearance:Applicants must possess and maintain a secret clearance, at minimum.
