The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and management of network routers within our Local Area Network (LAN) environment.
You will ensure network reliability, performance, and security while contributing to continuous improvements in network infrastructure. There will be occasional travel to Milan and other locations. Key Responsibilities:Router Configuration & Management:Configure and manage routers within the LAN to ensure seamless network performance and connectivity. Perform routine and proactive updates, patches, and upgrades to router hardware and software. Monitor router performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize network downtime. Network Design & Optimization:Assist in the design and implementation of LAN network architectures, focusing on router setup and optimization. Implement quality of service (QoS) policies, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), and load balancing to optimize performance. Ensure efficient traffic routing across network segments to improve throughput and reduce latency. Security:Configure and maintain router security measures, including access control lists (ACLs), VPNs, and firewall settings. Ensure that all routers are compliant with industry best practices and company security policies. Troubleshooting & Support:Provide expert troubleshooting and support for router-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and hardware failures. Assist in diagnosing and resolving network-related issues, liaising with other IT teams as necessary. Documentation & Reporting:Maintain up-to-date documentation on router configurations, network topologies, and changes made to the LAN infrastructure. Generate and present periodic reports on router performance, security, and network traffic patterns. Collaborate with other network and IT teams to integrate routers with other network components (e. g. , switches, firewalls, load balancers). Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute to the planning of network expansion or upgrades. Key Skills & Qualifications:Technical Skills:Proficiency in configuring and managing routers - Cisco MerakiStrong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.
). Expertise in troubleshooting network performance, router hardware, and network interfaces. Familiarity with routing and switching technologies and tools. Experience with network monitoring tools (e. g. , SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark) for performance analysis. Education & Certification:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification, or equivalent networking certifications (e. g. , CompTIA Network+). Experience:Proven experience in managing and configuring routers within a corporate or enterprise LAN environment. Hands-on experience with network design and implementation, focusing on router architecture and performance.
