Stores items within bin, pallet rack, and bulk storage locations after selecting the proper storage locations.

Maintains identification and number and nomenclature changes; keeps stock in a neat and clean conditions; the warehouse neat and orderly; and applies safety and fire prevention precautionary measures with particular attention paid to applicable type items.

Withdraws stock from storage as requested on the issue documents.

Checks each item for nomenclature, stock number, quantity, and other identifying data, withdrawing oldest stock first.

Assembles items to be shipped.

As required, wraps, packs, boxes, marks, and completes documentation after ensuring correctness of stock number.

Nomenclature, quantity, and condition of items to be shipped.

In case of bulk items, often must disassemble items to be shipped.

Occasionally on vehicle and lift truck or bulk type shipment, going by rail or truck, performs the blocking, bracing, strapping, and secure the items to meet railroad, and depot shipping requirements.

Checks for required transportation allotment numbers and correct method of shipment, e. g. , rail, truck, express, depot driver, air, shipment include both domestic and overseas.

Packs or repacks five or more classes of items classified according to shape, mounting provisions, and shock specified materials and ten or more packing methods.

Checks each item against the accompanying document for correctness of stock, model or serial number; nomenclature; and unit of issue and quantity.

Reports discrepancies to the supervisor.

Packs items in boxes, metal containers, or cartons in accordance with designated methods, standard packing specifications, or in use of pilot pack.

Places items in containers and overwraps; blocks, braces, cushions, and inserts desiccants.

Secures containers by strapping, wiring, nailing, and sealing.

Block and/or unblocks vehicles, containers, and other bulky cargo on rail cars and/or trucks, to prevent cargo to shift during movement and to ensure that cargo is properly placed and blocked on rail cars to conform with railways regulations.

Prepares wooden blocking and bracing material required to properly secure cargo.

As workload demands, performs warehousing tasks outside assigned area.

Incumbent must be able to operate different types of forklifts, locomotive and military vehicles.

Tour of duty is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 07. 00 to 16. 00, including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break.

NOTE: Incumbent must be able to read and interpret storage layouts and designs and know the payout of the track system and storage areas.
