Loss Adjuster
Reporting to: Senior Claims Supervisor (SCS) Responsibilities and Duties Depending on experience and level of responsibility, typical activities may include: Provide initial assessment of the degree of severity and urgency of claims, ensuring the correct procedure is followed and all relevant parties are involved and/or kept informed.
Ensure swift management of pending and outstanding proceedings.
Assist Insurers before, during, and after the appointment of external lawyers, experts, and consultants if required.
Assist Insurance Intermediaries, Insureds, Insurers, and colleagues in liaising with legal proceedings, ensuring the most appropriate course of action is taken regarding the specific claim.
Analyse information gathered by investigation and report findings and recommendations to the SCS.
Examine claims forms and other records to determine insurance coverage based on the facts and policy terms and conditions, as well as assessing potential Insured's liability and exposure within the deadline.
Set reserves within authority limits and recommend reserve changes.
Report claims handling activities to the SCS on a recurring basis, keeping them informed of all relevant information.
Negotiate prompt settlements and out-of-court agreements with an emphasis on fairness and according to the company's practices and procedures.
Prepare reports on the outcomes of investigations, settlements, and denials of claims.
Maintain an up-to-date diary system and tracking system, and full records of analysis, recommendations, and decisions taken in respect of legal matters.
Keep the electronic claim file properly documented with accurate, clear, and timely information and reports that reflect the adjustment activities.
Liaise with Insurers, Producers, Insureds, and Third Parties involved in claims to ensure an efficient level of communication and exchange of information, also via the web platform of the company.
Knowledge and Experience Knowledge of the practices and processes of the insurance market.
Experience and understanding of Italian civil, commercial, administrative, and criminal law and procedures, as well as litigation and arbitration procedures.
Good written and spoken communication skills, both in Italian and in English.
Good negotiation skills.
Appropriate time management and ability to meet deadlines.
Administrative and IT skills (knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook).
