The role you'll contribute: GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the RN Wound Clinician and supervising physician performs the primary function of an LPN implementing and evaluating the plan of care for patients in the Wound Care (WC) and Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy Departments. Meets established WC/HBO standards of nursing practice in the management of assigned patients from post admission to discharge. Assists physicians with the implementation of wound treatment plans and participates in performance review activities. In collaboration with the patient and family, provides evidence-based professional care and coordinates care delivery with the physician and other members of the healthcare team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: Operates and supervises maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber and associated systems/equipmentConducts pre-treatment and post-treatment evaluation of patients to ensure adequate preparation, including patient screening, evaluation of vital signs, and blood glucose monitoringAdministers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the hyperbaric physicianDelivers medical care appropriate to the level of his/her medical training duties and procedures as directed by supervisor and medical director, as appropriate to his or her scope of practiceAlways maintains visual observation and/or audible contact with the hyperbaric control panel and patients in hyperbaric chambersMonitors patients in the chamber and records patient condition in the EMRAssists medical staff, as required, while maintaining the necessary pressure in the chamberEnsures patient comfort and reports unusual occurrences to supervising physician and wound center managerRecords patient treatment notes and enters data in EMR per HIPAA and SOP guidelinesDocuments operating, maintenance and safety logs on hyperbaric equipmentResponsible for providing support in wound center as needed. Responsible for the day-to-day inspection and maintenance of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systemsPerforms all other duties as assigned. Wound Care: Provides evidence-based wound care for patients, under the supervision of an RN wound care clinician or providerRecords patient history into EMR per HIPAA and SOP guidelinesEscorts patient to examination room, completes vital signs, removes dressings, measures wounds, and takes photos of all wounds per SOPPositions patient comfortably for nursing and medical examinationAccurately documents patient and wound assessment into EMR as per HIPAA and SOP guidelinesUpdates wound treatment plan and orders to home health via EMRAssists with patient insurance authorizations for wound care and hyperbaric prospective patientsPerforms all other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of patient and fire safety before and during hyperbaric treatments to screen for prohibited items and appropriate attire, in accordance with standard policies and proceduresAbility to administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients, in accordance with standard policies and proceduresAbility to accurately report and document patient related dataAbility to transport patients and carry supplies/equipmentAssist in the insurance authorization process for wound care and hyperbaric patientsAbility to use personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, and isolation practices appropriatelyAbility to multitask and assist with patient care when not immediately assisting wound care clinicians or providersProficiency in computer systems to enter and track patient recordsMust be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational EnglishBasic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft OfficeEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Completion of a 40 hour Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) or National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric within one year of hireMedicine Technology (NBDHMT) approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Course completed within one year of hireEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in Wound, Ostomy, and/or Continence. One year of technical experience in HBO TherapyLICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Current State LPN LicenseWCC certification within one yearCertified Hyperbaric Technologist within one year of hireBasic Life SupportThis facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
