Lte Fisheries Technician- Creel Census (Multiple Locations)
Job Title: LTE Fisheries Technician- Creel Census (Multiple locations) We are dedicated to working with Wisconsinites while preserving and enhancing the natural resources of Wisconsin.
In partnership with individuals and organizations, DNR staff manage fish, wildlife, forests, parks, air and water resources while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor opportunities.
The Wisconsin DNR is hiring multiple LTE (Limited Term Employee) Fisheries Technicians.
The positions can be based in either Eagle River, Florence, Rhinelander or Woodruff and will work on either the Eagle Chain of Lakes or Kentuck Lake in Vilas and Forest Counties.
We will consider both full-time and half-time applicants.
Half-time employees usually work a week on and a week off.
We're seeking to fill three full-time positions (40 hours/week) or equivalent half-time positions (approximately 20 hours/week) to conduct open water creel surveys.
This recruitment may be used to fill future similar vacancies.
Position Summary The positions will work five days per week including all weekends and holidays and three randomly scheduled weekdays.
Half-time positions are normally a week on and a week off.
Shifts are 8 hours in length and will vary randomly between morning and evening each day.
The successful candidates will report directly to the assigned lake and are required to provide transportation.
Actual miles driven or the equivalent mileage from the home station (whichever is less) will be reimbursed at the current state rate.
Weekend and evening hours get an additional $. 80 per hour; holiday hours are paid at time and a half.
These positions will independently or under general supervision perform creel clerk duties, which involves interviewing anglers, identifying and measuring fish caught, recording data, and collating and compiling the collected data.
10% Lead other LTE Fisheries Technicians performing creel census duties.
70% Independently or under general supervision perform creel census clerk duties and collect fish information on designated waters.
Measure, weigh and identify fish caught.
Interview anglers.
Record data.
20% Compile and analyze data and prepare written documentation and/or reports.
Salary Information This position pays between $18. 04-18. 45 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 06-12.
Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.
Special Requirements: Residency: To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
