Maintenance Engineer
Galenica Senese is a well-established and privately owned pharmaceutical company with its headquarters and manufacturing site in Siena (Italy).
The company focuses on manufacturing and developing injectable products used for a variety of pathologies and the treatment of patients in the domestic market and globally.
Galenica is working on several co-business programs with the aim to expand the presence on the international markets.
Your Role: The Maintenance Engineer will support the site maintenance & operation program which includes the production mechanical maintenance equipment, utilities and critical systems operations and maintenance, facilities maintenance and maintenance planning, parts inventory, and scheduling.
You will support the Maintenance Manager to guarantee current Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures are integrated in all maintenance activities.
The Maintenance Engineer supports maintenance & daily operation within boundaries of compliance, quality, time, and budget.
The Maintenance Engineer will report hierarchically to the Head Of Engineering & Maintenance and functionally to the Maintenance Manager.
You will support a culture of continuous improvement by implementing measurement tools or methods to eliminate the probability of repeat mistakes.
You will propose solutions for the reduction of exceptions and errors, optimize preventative maintenance activities, level load the required work and labor, and be instrumental to the success of the manufacturing operations.
You will work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Project Management, Quality, Health Environmental & Safety, and Project Management.

Your Accountabilities: You will define and implement policies and procedures to guarantee daily operation and maintenance of installed filling lines, packaging machinery, equipment, and utilities systems in accordance with regulatory requirements, cGMP, and company standards:
Support the Maintenance Department and oversee the Preventive and Corrective Maintenance and daily Operation program including activities planning, scheduling and execution, keeping track of work order completion and performance metrics in a 24/7/365 manufacturing setting.
Ensure maximum productivity and efficiency in a safe and compliant manner.
Direct a group of external contractors to ensure reliable plant operation related to equipment and supporting systems.
Promote an open, collaborative, and transparent working environment.
Implement safety policies and global policies for Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
Manage third-party contractors, including issuing purchase orders and managing labor resources on site.
Oversee applicable budgets for Maintenance, Operation and Energy and develop future budgets.
Improve predictive and preventative maintenance activities, level load the required work and labor.
Lead material and parts vendor management, parts cycle counting, ordering, receiving, and stocking.
Support Project Management in Machinery, Equipment, Utilities and Facility Life-cycle planning, including revamping and or replacement.
Support plant shutdown activities.
Provide support and lead Asset Management Excellence vision and implementation plan consistent with implementing Reliability Metrics, tracking and tools for Predictive Maintenance Program and maintenance management activities to maximize wrench time per associate.
Improve equipment performance metrics like Operational Efficiency and Mean time Between Failure.
Support a culture of continuous improvement by implementing measurement tools or methods to eliminate the probability of repeat mistakes and promoting change.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Food and Drug Administration guidelines, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, environmental regulations, purchasing principles, regulatory inspections, and process validation.
Display an understanding of automation, information technology and computer system administration good practices, industry standards and regulations.
Experience with Asset Management Programs, Reliability Programs, and Equipment/Line Performance Metrics.
Be able to analyze and solve complex issues.
Will organize, prioritize, follow up, and offer resolution.
Manage efforts based on the needs of customers.
Mentor team members.
Work with teams to implement opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications: Master's Degree in mechanical engineering (preferably) or other related engineering field (electrical).
3+ years of related experience in plant engineering, project engineering or maintenance of chemical-pharmaceutical plants.
Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other Food and Drug Administration-regulated industry preferred.
Solid leadership capabilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Mastery in problem solving and analytical skills.
Able to manage multiple priorities and manage different stakeholders in a fast-paced organization.
English proficiency.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
