Marine Underwriting ManagerMilan, ItalyThe Underwriting Manager mission is to take the lead on all the key aspects of the underwriting operations in the Country in accordance with the regional and divisional guidelines.
This includes but is not limited to portfolio profitability, account pricing, portfolio rate change, renewal retention, marketing, new business production, development of staff and broker and client management. DISCOVER your opportunity What will your essential responsibilities include? Executing departmental strategy and achieve PL metrics. Leading and developing a team of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters. Managing insured and producer relationships across large geographical territory. Maintaining visibility in the market by aggressively marketing to insureds and brokers. Leadership responsibilities. Operational responsibilities. Continuous improvement. Support the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure and premium income to ensure it remains within set limits. Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims. Seeking, identifying and developing opportunities for profitable business with new and existing customers. Developing relationships with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are achieved and personally getting to know and being known by brokers, clients, risk managers and account managersStrongly collaborating with the Distribution Team by providing an effective and efficient service.
Developing the portfolio whilst maximizing profitability by making decisions and recommendations to assist in the development and control of profitable underwriting and monitoring of performance of products and/or schemes and portfolios in accordance with AXA strategy and business plan Supporting others by providing technical training and coaching on a day to day and, as required, more formalized basis. You will report to Country Manager Italy. SHARE your talentWe're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:Proven experience in underwriting leadership within the insurance business Strategic view and understanding of the market with overview on local and international trends and dynamics. Leadership: highly experienced in managing a team. Role model enacing commitment and egagement, takes initiative and has the ability to lead independently, as well as inspiring success and advancing talent and culture. Excellent commercial, communication and influencing skills.
Able to communicate effectively and partnering with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
