Job Summary:

The NYS Licensed Medical Technologist Supervisor is responsible for supervising use of, operating, and maintaining equipment used to process and analyze specimens.

With a strong attention to quality assurance and problem solving, they provide timely and accurate results. The Supervisor has a positive problem solving attitude, is reliable and flexible in dealing with unpredictable workloads and schedules, and is a resource for technical and nontechnical staff.

They are an effective communicator able to escalate issues up the chain of command.

They possess time management and organization skills and work well under pressure in a collaborative, team-based environment, establishing relationships with internal and external clients as needed.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Intake/receive, evaluate and sort/reject submitted specimens according to established protocols

Process samples for diagnostic testing; create accessions and testing pools

Independently perform low to high complexity molecular techniques on a rotational basis to support SARS-CoV-2 and other testing

Ensure sample, reagent, and quality control integrity through appropriate evaluation, handling, and storage

Operate, monitor and troubleshoot lab equipment and instrumentation

Control all inventories with the Lab Manager

Act as primary trainer, verifying competency prior to independent testing

Assembles staffing schedules and assignments

Maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital policies, NYSDOH Standards, the Joint Commission Standards, and CLIA Standards

Effectively monitor and supervise completion of daily workload

Adhere to all quality standards, participate in the Quality Maintenance System (QMS), prepare reports as assigned for QMS, and control the proficiency program with the Lab Manager

Maintain professional and technical knowledge via continuing education as required by NYSDOH, prepare continuing education for the staff with the Lab Manager

Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklist, including QC review, as assigned

Full time positions are 37. 5 hours per week, with flexible shifts as needed including evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Required Qualifications:

NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license

Six years' experience as a NYS-CLT

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time

Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 30 pounds
