MissionThe role focuses on offshore and onshore projects, providing consultancy on ground characterization and foundation design and joining offshore campaigns on board vessels or platforms.
Working together as a global team, you will be expected to achieve extraordinary results in a demanding and challenging business environment that is constantly changing. Key AccountabilitiesGeotechnical characterization including interpretation of in-situ testing, definition and interpretation of lab test programs/results, definition of design parameters, integration with geophysical data. Onshore and offshore geotechnical assessments including foundation design, soil-structure interaction, pipe/cable-soil interaction assessments, and geotechnical constraints related engineering assessments. Development of geotechnical engineering projects from the preliminary phase to the detailed design, as well as the technical control of projects developed by other parties and the technical assistance during the construction phase under the supervision of a principal engineer or a managing engineer. Design of foundation/retaining structures (bearing capacity, settlement, soil–structure interaction, structural calculation), slope stability, underground structures design, and other geotechnical topics. Development of finite element or difference models for static and dynamic analyses. Obtaining soil and rock samples to determine compressibility, efficiency, strength and other factors affecting the structure's behavior. Planning field investigations by drilling and analyzing samples of bedrock or deposits. Assessing geological hazards and ensuring any factors affecting engineering works are identified and managed. Analyzing and mapping technical results retrieved from seismic surveys, investigating subsurface conditions and materials to determine properties and risks. Providing direct day-to-day support and oversight of project elements, visiting sites to take measurements. Providing direct or indirect support to engineers or engineering teams by gathering data for permit applications, submitting documentation to officials, and other day-to-day duties. Developing project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced engineers. Preparing technical deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentation, engineering drawings, etc.
). Preparing progress technical reports. Being aware of and understanding the Quality Policy and ensuring that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS. EducationMaster's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering. QualificationsMaster's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering. Academic background with specialization in soil mechanics or lab testing will be considered a plus. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in offshore geotechnical fields will be considered a plus. Experience in the use of the main geotechnics software packages (Plaxis, Gint, GRLWeap, DeepSoil) or programming languages is considered a plus. Ability to work well under supervision, personal initiative and resourcefulness. Availability to join offshore campaigns (mainly North Europe, Italy and Africa).
