**THE ROLE
You will be working in a multi-disciplinary group, where people with different backgrounds collaborate, each with their own expertise, to support IIT research activity.
The EDPR Research line is coordinated by Chiara Bartolozzi, who has extensive experience in neuromorphic engineering, and event-driven sensing and perception for robots.
The Neuromorphic domain is a strongly emerging alternative computing ecosystem that can provide a more sustainable option to mainstream digital computing.
We have an open position for a young talent interested in working together with scientists to improve robotics and artificial vision.
We are doing so through AI, neuromorphic technology and event-driven sensing.
We are looking for a technician who will team-up with PostDocs and PhD students in engineering and integrating the latest developments on event-driven sensors and neuromorphic computation on robots and prosthetic devices.
Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:
- Test, maintain and improve software libraries to generate datasets, run code in real-time, manage smooth, efficient and low-latency communication of data across different platforms (GPU, CPU, FPGA, neuromorphic hardware), train AI networks;
- Optimize code implementation for low-latency and real-time, on GPU, CPU or neuromorphic hardware;
- Support and team up with the researchers in the research line to improve and integrate all their modules;
- Support and team-up with other technicians in IIT;
- Development and maintenance of demonstrators.
**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A PhD/MSc in computer science, engineering, robotics, or related fields
- Proficiency in C++, Python
- Good spoken and written English
- Knowledge of Brian2 or other SNN simulation as well as AI libraries
- Strong focus on stakeholder needs and expectations
**ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Background or interest in electronics and circuit design
- Background or interest in FPGA and AI tools
- Background or interest in neuromorphic technology, event-driven sensing, and robotics
- High motivation to learn
- Adeptness at time and priority management
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
- Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
- Analytical reasoning skills and a growth mindset
