OpeningFull Time 40 hours Range URG 107 LLE-Laboratory for Laser EnergeticsSchedule8:30 AM-5:30 PMResponsibilitiesPOSITION SUMMARY:The Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) of the University of Rochester is a unique national resource for research and education in science and technology.
LLE was established in 1970 as a center for the investigation of the interaction of intense radiation with matter. The Facility Operations Division is seeking a technician to help prepare and support the laser equipment.
A successful candidate will be challenged by the wide range of technologies used to conduct these experiments. Support the installation and operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experimentsTroubleshoot optical, mechanical, and electrical issues and identify potential solutionsPerform preventative maintenanceParticipate in the design and installation of new equipmentHandle radiation materials – will be required to qualify as a NYS Radiation Safety WorkerShift flexibility is required (Morning and Evening shifts)QualificationsAssociate's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field plus one-year experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceEssential SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software operationAbility to work in a cleanroom environmentAbility to lift to 50 lbs.
