Planning Director
We are looking to hire a Planning Director to join our Madrid office and to be part of the 25 strong wider EMEA planning team.
The planning team at Edelman acts as a centre of excellence and internally consults across the entire business.
Our role is to help make Edelman's ideas smarter and more effective.
Our contribution takes the form of:
- Campaign development - through identifying the territory which powers the creative brief or an activation strategy we use insights to anchor the campaign in what works
- Client consultancy - developing problem solving workshops and other engagements to bring our expertise on client issues, and creating opportunities for extending and deepening the client relationships
- Communications and Channel planning - helping create activation frameworks which craft all of the interrelated disciplines which Edelman can offer into a coherent recommendation which clients can buy
As a Planning Director your role is integral to driving creative and campaign excellence whilst delivering senior client consultancy and strategy across both consumer and corporate clients.
**Responsibilities**:
Determine priorities and develop /challenge the client brief
Use a research driven approach to develop the right questions, be an aggregator and help us stand apart at the table
Build deep relationships with the creative team and be a central partner in increasing the power of our creative work
Be able to bridge the gap between audience trends and the industry and determine appropriate channels for the client based on editorial themes, target audience, brand objectives etc.
Stress test and provide parameters of success for creative platform ideas in conjunction with creative directors
Explore the intersection of culture, brands and audiences from new angles to arrive at deeper insights, more provocative Communications strategies and breakthrough brand-building platforms
Consult on primary research initiatives ensuring methodologies match research objectives
Oversee secondary research by analysing data research to learn new insights and support strategy and provide guidance on which key insights should inform the narrative
To develop thinking and content which adds value to the wider practise area, whether as publications, white papers or presentations around issues, audiences and culturaltrends which have relevance.
Required Experience:
Significant experience in planning, insight and analysis
Experience in an integrated marketing, advertising or public relations agency setting
Ability to develop big ideas into communications frameworks
Familiarity with agency planning models and capabilities
Solid grasp of brand strategy and brand equity assessment
Ability to consult on primary research and lead secondary research needs (based on core research skills in designing and executing ethnographies, focus groups and brand workshops, as well as data analysis)
Strong presentation skills, ability to articulate smart and sometimes complex solutions in a straightforward and lucid manner to a variety of internal and external audiences
Adept at developing powerful narratives to deliver insights and strategy for client buy-in
Experience in handling complex client issues and an ability to provide senior clients with clear, confident, and well-informed strategic counsel under pressure
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills, with an ability to deliver a project against budget and deliver results
A track record of handling complex stakeholders with ability to influence decisions
Strong communications skills, verbal and written
Experience of multi-market coordination, working within integrated teams and across practices
Creative, ambitious, entrepreneurial with good initiative, strong organisation and attention to detail
Passion for networking, both internally and externally, to develop contacts and generate new thinking and ways of working
