YOUR TEAM

You'd be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where biomedical, mechanical, and electrical engineers, neuroscientists, computational scientists, and robotics experts collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out common research.

The research focuses on the design of software applications on smartphones and mobile devices for a navigation system for people in the context of smart cities.

The software will interface to a wearable electronic system that will enable, using dedicated sensors and intelligent interaction with online maps, improvement of the autonomy of elder visually impaired people.

This includes the opportunity to develop ad-hoc solutions, with particular emphasis on the improvement of the state-of-the-art solutions, to build the stock of knowledge in electronic and software engineering with high Technology Readiness Level (TRL), strongly oriented towards technology transfer.

Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:

The design of application-level software associated with the electronic systems developed during the project both for general-purpose systems and portable devices (smartphones, tablets)The proactive cooperation in a multidisciplinary team involving mechanical and software engineersThe writing of the documentation of the implemented software to enable trials on subjectsESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar disciplinesDocumented experience on software design, and for applications for portable devices (development frameworks, Android & iOS development tools and Python programming language)A strong publication recordThe ability to properly report, organize and publish research dataGood command in spoken and written EnglishADDITIONAL SKILLS Good knowledge on gitlab, github, and SVNBasic knowledge on Electronic PCB and schematicsGood communication skillsStrong problem-solving attitudeHigh motivation to learnSpirit of innovation and creativityGood in time and priority managementAbility to work in a challenging and international environmentAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environmentCOMPENSATION PACKAGE Competitive salary package for international standards (Salary can include bonus option depending on your role and contract)Private health care coverage (depending on your role and contract)Wide range of staff discountsCandidates from abroad or Italian citizens who permanently work abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
