Postdoc In Sustainable Ultrathin Dielectric Polymeric Materials For Green Printed Electronics
Job Description - Postdoc in sustainable ultrathin dielectric polymeric materials for green printed electronics (2500001K)
Commitment & contract: 2 years, Postdoc collaboration contract Location: Center for Materials Interfaces, Pontedera (PI) Step into a world of endless possibilities, together let's leave something for the future!
At IIT, we are committed to advancing human-centered Science and Technology to address the most urgent societal challenges of our era.
We foster excellence in both fundamental and applied research, spanning fields such as neuroscience and cognition, humanoid technologies and robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and material sciences, offering a truly interdisciplinary scientific experience.
We are dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities and fostering diversity in all its forms, creating an inclusive environment.
We value the unique experiences, knowledge, backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of our people.
THE ROLE You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where material scientists, chemists, physicists, and mechanical and biomedical engineers collaborate to carry out common research.
The research group, within the Center for Materials Interfaces (CMI), is led by Dr. Virgilio Mattoli, who has extensive experience in micro/nanofabrication, two-photon lithography, conformable electronics, and sensors.
The research will focus on the development of solution-processable sustainable dielectrics polymers, to be used to implement high-capacitance nanofilm dielectrics (Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:
Synthesis of highly filmable copolymers having a polyurethane and/or polyester structure incorporating highly polarizable units Characterization of the fabricated high capacitance nanofilm dielectrics and test devices ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering or Physics, and similar disciplines Documented experience on chemical synthesis Knowledge of polymer chemistry and material science Knowledge of characterization equipment for chemical and physical properties of materials.
A strong publication record The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data Good command in spoken and written English ADDITIONAL SKILLS Knowledge of electronics characterization methods and tools Strong problem-solving attitude High motivation to learn Good in time and priority management Ability to work in a challenging and international environment Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset COMPENSATION PACKAGE A yearly gross salary ranging between 36k€ and 40k€ Private health care coverage (depending on your role and contract) This open position/research is financed by the European Commission within European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program under the Pathfinder Challenge project "Green, Organic and Printed Ultra-High Frequency Identification Tags" - (GRETA) - agreement No.
101161032.
The GRETA project aims at developing the first green, printed and flexible organic wireless identification tag operating at Ultra-High Frequency (UHF, 300 MHz – 1 GHz).
The long-term vision is to enable remote powering and readout of tags up to meters distance range, as required in logistics and security, without the need of a battery and with drastically reduced lifecycle impact and costing with respect to any available passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology.
Please submit your application using the online form and including a detailed CV, cover letter (outlining motivation, experience and qualifications) and contact details of 2 references.
