THE ROLE You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal. The Nanotechnologies for Neurosciences (N4N) Research Unit is coordinated by Prof. Giancarlo Ruocco. The research focuses on new technologies aiming to face problems in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. This includes the development of new microscopes (Brillouin microscope, long working distance / high resolution microscope, IR spectro-microscope), new diagnostic tools (early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease via retinal imaging, animal-based cancer screening) and new platforms (bio-printing, organoids, organ-on-chip) for personalized drug test and delivery. New computational methods (bio-computation and AI boosted imaging) are also under development and used to study with a high interdisciplinary approach Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal disorders, Kabuki syndrome, and other neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental pathologies. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Design and implement 3D bioprinting and microfluidics strategies for neural tissue fabrication Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including bioengineers, neuroscientists, and materials scientists Analyze data and prepare high-impact scientific publications ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Ph. D. in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar disciplines Documented experience in 3D bioprinting, microfluidics, or tissue engineering Good command of spoken and written English ADDITIONAL SKILLS Experience in iPSCs cells, microscopy techniques, and data processing Ability to work in a challenging and international environment Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment Possess analytical reasoning skills and a growth mindset COMPENSATION PACKAGE A yearly gross salary of 30, 000 € Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
